Jonas E. Salk Middle School English as a New Language students celebrated International Day by sharing their country of origin in the school library with their peers on Feb. 15. With the guidance of teachers Marie Capizzano, Lynn Ortega and Katherine Whitebread, ENL students set up booths filled with information about their cultures, facts about their country and more.

Students, including those enrolled in world language courses, stopped by the library to participate in a country scavenger hunt while rotating through the different booths. Information on countries such as China, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Indonesia, Mexico, Nepal, Phillipines and more were provided by ENL students who dressed in attire from their countries and helped answer questions. The ENL students also created colorful boards and PowerPoints about their countries that students could refer to. The collaborative lesson allowed students to work together to learn more about the world around them.
