Science Olympiad teams from Jonas E. Salk Middle School and Wisdom Lane Middle School in the Levittown Public Schools recently showcased their skills during the Western Long Island Division B Regionals at Wisdom Lane Middle School. Due to their success at regionals, both schools qualified for the New York State Science Olympiad Tournament which will be held in Syracuse, New York from April 5-7.
With the guidance of Science Olympiad advisers Douglas Neu and Paul Zaratin, Jonas E. Salk Middle School students medaled in 22 events during the tournament. Most notably, they received first place in Parasitology, third place in Write It/Do It and fourth place in both Disease Detectives and Potions and Poisons.
Wisdom Lane Middle School students medaled in 23 events under the leadership of Science Olympiad advisers Meghan Olsen and Vanessa Kowalczyk. This included first and second place in Roller Coaster, first place in Circuit Lab, second place in Battery Buggy, Disease Detectives, and Experimental Design and third place in Parasitology.
The Levittown Public Schools congratulates both schools on this outstanding achievement and wishes the students the best of luck as they move on to compete at the state level.
