Students at Division Avenue High School in the Levittown Public Schools recently engaged in an Islanders Floorball unit with the help of the New York Islanders hockey team. The school received about 30 jerseys, 14 hockey sticks and two goals which were donated by the New York Islanders as part of their Islanders Floorball Program.
Physical education teacher Thomas Tuttle applied for the program last June to benefit Division Avenue students in grades 9-12 in their physical education classes. Physical education students throughout the state participate in the floorball program thanks to the professional hockey team to learn more about floorball, enhance their skills and practice teamwork.
“Levittown is such a close community,” said Tuttle. “It’s great that the Islanders to want to be part of our community so that we can build on having a relationship with them.
