The Nassau County Police Major Case Bureau reported the arrest of a Brooklyn man for a burglary in Great Neck Estates on Tuesday, Feb. 26, at 11:15 a.m.
According to Burglary Pattern Team detectives, Donn Chung of Brooklyn allegedly entered a residence on Shore Drive in Great Neck Estates, removed several items without authority and was observed by detectives entering a Gray 2008 Honda Civic.
When detectives attempted to stop the 49-year-old man, he fled at high speed and drove over the property of a residence on Cedar Drive, causing approximately $1,000 in damage before continuing east on Cedar Drive.
Chung crashed into a storm drain off Ridge Drive East and then fled on foot.
As detectives attempted to place him under arrest, Chung flailed his arms in an aggressive manner. After a brief struggle, he was placed into custody.
Chung is under investigation for being involved in other Nassau County burglaries, including several in Port Washington.
The defendant is charged with second-degree burglary, third-degree criminal mischief and resisting arrest. He was arraigned on Wednesday, Feb. 27, in First District Court in Hempstead.
