The Nassau County Police Department Third Squad reports the arrest of two people for a grand larceny attempt that occurred on Thursday, April 11, at 2:20 p.m. in Great Neck.
According to detectives, a 74-year-old man and a 76-year-old woman were contacted by an unknown person, who said they needed to pay $12,000 to cover their son’s medical bills in Florida. The Great Neck couple contacted the police.
When Lissette Rodriguez, 35, and Rigo Jose Batista Dominguez, 24, both of the Bronx, arrived at the victims’ home to collect the money, the alleged extortionists were taken into custody without incident.
Both defendants are charged with attempt third-degree grand larceny. They will be arraigned on Friday, April 12, at First District Court in Hempstead.
