Music festivals are popular among people of all ages. Everyone enjoys music and being surrounded by thousands of people who like the same music as you is an experience like no other. No wonder music festivals are famous and present all year round everywhere in the world. But many people say that NYC music festivals are out of this world. Just because New York is a very big city, its festivals have to be big and noticeable. And New York is the city that never sleeps. There are bars and clubs on every corner. People from all over the world travel to New York every day just so they can feel the NYC vibe. And it’s the same with New York’s music festivals—they attract crowds from all parts of the world.
The best NYC music festivals
Summertime is when the wildest parties take place. This is also the time for some of the best music festivals that New York City offers. But if you happen to be in New York in the wintertime or you simply want to be able to see music events during wintertime too, fear not. There are many concerts during the winter in NYC.
Electric Zoo
This festival takes place from Aug. 30 to Sept. 1. It’s one of the biggest, most immersive festival experiences in the world. Electric Zoo celebrates the joy of electronic music. This is one of New York City’s largest music festivals and features the top names in electronic music. So, if you happen to find yourself in NYC during this time, you might as well be a part of this event. This year’s artists are Benny Benassi, Afrojack, Alison Wonderland, Diplo and many others.
SummerStage in Central Park
For New York music fans, SummerStage is always one of the highlights of the summer concerts calendar. It is celebrating its 34th anniversary this year. They still haven’t released the lineup, but they never fail to impress the audience. Every year, they manage to bring the very best artists and we believe they will do it this year, too.
Governors Ball Music Festival
From May 31 to June 2, Gov Ball takes place in Randall’s Island Park. Music is always their primary focus, and with 60+ artists of all genres across 4 stages, there is something for everyone. This year, Governors Ball festival will feature Tyler The Creator, Gesaffelstein, The 1975, Zhu, Nas and many other artists that you know and love.
Greatest Day Ever Music Festival
This festival and carnival is hosted by Adidas Company and features many artists on July 13 and 14, 2019. This year is the fifth time it’s organized and they manage to bring good singers and rappers every year. This year, the stage will be occupied by artists such as Pusha T, Bas and Lil Baby
Smaller music festivals
As we’ve already said, NYC has many festivals. Some are big and famous, so they attract a lot of tourists. But, there are smaller festivals that don’t get enough recognition and we believe they should. One of those is Gather Outdoors festival. It lasts for just two days—May 25 to 26. It does not have top 10 billboard artists but it does have other good ones such as Jamie XX, Amelie Lens, Agoria and a few other ones we think you will fall in love with.
Clearwater Festival is a festival that features many artists, many more than Gather festival. But the artists they bring, aren’t very famous. So, if you decide to check out this festival, make sure you listen to some songs by these artists—Mavis Staples, Ani Difranco, Guy Davis, Joel Rafael. If you still don’t find yourself enjoying one of these festivals, New York City has many other events during the summer.
More festivals you should check out
Disc Jam is a festival that lasts four days in June. With bands such as Lotus, The Floozies and Ghost Light, it attracts many people of all ages. And so does the festival Taste of Country. There aren’t many country music festivals in the Northeast, which makes this one a must for genre fans. The 2019 lineup has names such as Keith Urban, Rascal Flatts, Little Big Town, Brooks and Dunn, etc.
Another festival you might be interested in is the Woodstock festival. It’s a festival for people who prefer rock and pop music. Cage the Elephant, Imagine Dragons, The Killers and The Lumineers will be performing on stage live for you. The tickets for this festival aren’t very expensive, so we suggest you get yours on time. There are many other festivals in New York City besides music festivals. For example, this year, you can check out the Arbor Day Festival in April.
If you have a chance to see any of the festivals we mentioned, we doubt you will have a bad time. Investing in something like concert and festival tickets is always a good idea. Especially if you have friends or family that will go and have fun with you. Try to enjoy this summer as much as possible and make sure you visit at least one of many NYC music festivals.
