A man from Hicksville had the luck of the draw, being gifted a 2019 Mustang GT after entering and eventually, winning the Ford Motorcraft 5.0 Fever Sweepstakes.

The sweepstakes, which took place from February to December of 2018, consisted of more than 108,000 entries. The winner, Dennis Healy, was awarded the vehicle, along with $5,000 of Ford Performance parts.

When Healy first found out he was crowned the victor of the near year-long sweepstakes, to say he was surprised is an understatement.

“I was in shock,” Healy said. “The sweepstakes called me on Dec. 13 to confirm my eligibility as a finalist, but I never thought I would hear back from them on Dec. 17 when the winner would be announced. The call came and after they informed me that I was the grand prize winner. I still couldn’t believe it and it’s still that way today.”

Healy never considered the slim chance of winning the sweepstakes throughout the year. So much so that he also purchased a 2018 Mustang GT before eventually finding out that he won the grand prize.

“I entered the sweepstakes in February,” Healy said. “I actually forgot I entered the sweepstakes and treated myself to a new 2018 Mustang in April of 2018.”

The dark blue 2019 Mustang GT is valued at around $45,000, according to Healy. Even with the two Mustangs now, Healy remained adamant on retaining both vehicles.

“I’ve been asked the same question about the 2018 now that I won this car and I’m not selling that one either,” Healy said.

For Healy, the highly valued car is a major step up from the past cars he’s owned. The most important aspect about the vehicle is not just its looks, but its sheer power.

“It is the most powerful one I’ve owned, with 460 HP and I was able to option the car the way I wanted it,” Healy said.

Healy recently picked up the grand prize car from Levittown Ford on Hempstead Turnpike. He said one of the best parts about winning the sweepstakes was taking that first seat in his brand-new car.

“It was fantastic as I still couldn’t believe it was mine,” Healy said.
