The second squad of the Nassau County Police Department arrested Valiery Portlock, 25, on Friday, Aug. 16, for criminal impersonation of a police officer.
According to detectives, the Hicksville resident was traveling northbound on Hicksville Road in a black Nissan Sentra in the vicinity of Roosevelt Avenue when he activated his air horn and emergency lights in an attempt to pull over a van. The defendant continued to drive at a high rate of speed onto the Long Island Expressway. Nassau County Highway Patrol officers were notified and soon spotted the defendant and initiated a traffic stop. Portlock was placed under arrest without incident.
Portlock is charged with criminal impersonation in the first degree, reckless endangerment in the second degree and unlawful fleeing from a police officer, as well as multiple moving vehicle violations.
He was arraigned on Saturday, Aug. 17, at First District Court in Hempstead.
