The Nassau County Police Department’s Special Victims Squad have arrested Plainview resident Onel Jiminez-Maradiaga, 20, for three incidents that involved sexually assaulting three different women.

According to detectives, Jiminez-Maradiaga approached a 43-year-old female victim at 10:20 p.m. on Sept. 12 as she entered her residence and grabbed her inappropriately. The victim then screamed, causing the male subject to run away and leave in a dark colored Chrysler 300 he had left running a short distance away. There were no injuries reported in the incident. He was arrested more than a week later on Friday, Sept. 20.

Further investigation by the police revealed that Jiminez-Maradiaga is also responsible for two other assaults that have occurred during the month of September.

According to the police report, on Sept. 9 at 5:30 p.m., the defendant approached a 27-year-old female victim in Plainview as she was jogging and violently grabbed her inappropriately. The defendant struck again 10 days after the Plainview incident and a week following the incident in Levittown, the report stated. This time, on Sept. 19, at 9:05 a.m., Jiminez-Maradiaga followed another 27-year-old female victim and “violently grabbed her inappropriately” while she was at the Roosevelt Field mall in Garden City.

Jiminez-Maradiaga has been charged with three counts of first-degree sexual abuse. He was arraigned on the same day he was arrested at the First District Court in Hempstead.

Police have not revealed any additional information on how they identified Jiminez-Maradiaga, but said they were able to determine he was responsible for the two other attacks after he was arrested. Detectives are still seeking information on Jiminez-Maradiaga and ask anyone who feels they are a victim of him to contact the Special Victims Squad at 516-573-4022.
