Marian O’Connor

OBIT OConnorMarian O’Connor resided in Manhasset for 57 years and passed away in her sleep on Friday, Sept. 27 after a brief period of declining health. She was born in Frankfurt am Main, Germany on Oct. 11, 1921, she was the daughter of Karl and Martha Geyer. O’Connor had resided in Wolfeboro, NH for the last two years.

O’Connor had a bachelor of science degree in chemistry from Hunter College. In 1944, she married Lt. John Joseph O’Connor USN who predeceased her by 20 years. John and Marian grew up in Washington Heights, NY and moved to Sao Paulo, Brazil where they raised their two children Gale and Rick.

O’Connor became a registered nurse at the age of 60 and in addition to health and wellness, had numerous hobbies including ceramics, painting, languages and travel but her real passion was tennis. Her home in Manhasset had one room dedicated to tennis trophies and original ceramic masks she created.

In addition to her two children, O’Connor is survived by her grandchildren, Caitlin, Daniel and Brendan and her three great grandchildren.

There will be a small memorial service at a date to be determined, to celebrate her remarkable life. The family would like to thank Ann Ulman and all the other wonderful ladies of the Assisted Living Facility at Sugar Hill in Wolfeboro for their kindness and professional care for O’Connor so well.
