Two juveniles were arrested after assaulting a 17-year-old with a knife in the Manhasset train station waiting room, causing lacerations to both of his hands. The incident occurred on Friday, Jan. 17 at around 3:40 p.m.
The victim was attempting to buy drugs from the two individuals, who are 16 and 17 years old, according to the police report. After assaulting the victim with a knife, the two individuals took $30 from the victim and left the train station. 911 was contacted a short time later and both subjects were located and placed under arrest.
Both individuals have been charged with first-degree assault and first-degree robbery. After initially stating that the two individuals would be charged in family court, the Nassau County Police Department says the case will be heard in the Nassau County First District Court.
The victim was transported to an area hospital for treatment, according to the police report. North Shore University Hospital chose not to comment on the matter or the victim’s condition.
The MTA Police Department also responded to the incident, but a spokesperson for the MTA said the incident started off MTA property, giving jurisdiction to the Nassau County Police Department. The spokesperson also stated that train service was not affected by the incident.
