It may be cold outside, but the warmer months are right around the corner, and with them comes one of Long Island’s favorite pastimes: lacrosse.
Supervisor Don Clavin announced the Town of Hempstead Lacrosse Academy will once again be holding clinic sessions for the township’s youth athletes, beginning in June. The summer 2020 clinic season also marks the 16th anniversary of the academy providing local lacrosse enthusiasts with both instruction and a place to hone their skills and spend time with friends.
“Youth athletics is a great way for our younger residents to make friends, build leadership skills and stay active,” said Supervisor Clavin. “I am proud that Hempstead Town offers this service, and I encourage all interested parents to consider enrolling their children in the lacrosse academy.”
The academy is open to Town of Hempstead residents between the ages of 5 and 15, with separate classes held for boys and girls. The sessions are further divided by both age and skill level, with practice groups ranging from beginner to advanced.
The fee for each four-day, three-hour session is $77, with special two-hour sessions for campers aged 5 to 6 costing $66 for the week. There is also an available family member discount rate of $55 for siblings of campers registered for the same week. The discount is only applied when both campers are enrolled in the same transaction.

• July 13-16 at Oceanside Park (Oceanside), 6-9 p.m., ages 6-15, $77
• July 20-23 at Rath Park (Franklin Square), 6-9 p.m., ages 6-15, $77
• July 27-30 at Rath Park (Franklin Square), 9 a.m.-noon, ages 7-15, $77
• July 27-30 at Rath Park (Franklin Square), 9:30-11:30 a.m., ages 5-6, $66
• Aug. 3-6 at Speno Park (East Meadow), 6-9 p.m., ages 7-15, $77
• August 3-6 at Speno Park (East Meadow), 6:30-8:30 p.m., ages 5-6, $66
