Yolanda D’Ambrosio, 96, of Farmingdale passed away April 9. Beloved wife of the late Nicholas. Loving mother and mother-in-law of Nicholas (Colleen), Theresa (Chick) and Patty (Bob). Devoted grandmother and great grandmother and aunt to many nieces and nephews. Due to COVID-19 pandemic, a private burial took place Saturday, April 18 at St. John’s Cemetery in Middle Village, Queens. The family will have a memorial mass at a later date. Josephine Bocchino of Sea Cliff, died on April 28, at age 93.  Beloved wife of the Late Frank. Sara Lord Bodi, known as Sally, 92, survived Hurricane Sandy, only to be felled by another natural disaster, COVID-19. Sally is survived by her 96-year-old sister Emily Lord Leyshon of Prescott, AZ, son Dr. Kip Bodi and wife Chris Bodi of Cold Spring Harbor and; daughters Sari Bodi and husband Eric Montgomery of Westport, CT; Betsy Bodi Thomas and husband Philip Thomas of Dallas, TX; and Nancy Bodi-Hurley and husband Michael Hurley of Northport. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren, and their spouses; two step-grandchildren; five great-grand-daughters with another on the way; and one step-great-grand-daughter.

Frank A. Gentile, 78, passed away peacefully on April 23, in Palm Beach, FL, after a long illness. He leaves his wife Michelene (Mickie) of 55 years. William T. Heisig of Locust Valley, died on April 16, age 92. Bill was born and raised in Bayside, Queens to Margaret Kiernan and Theodore Heisig on Nov. 25, 1927. He leaves behind a son, Max (Ly), a daughter, Allaire, another son, Banigan (deceased), his wife, Aleta (nee Brisbane) and two grandchildren, Lola and Colette. Ivory Hudson “Ike” formerly of Glen Cove, died on April 24, at age 82.  Beloved husband of Bernice. Alexander Richey of Queens, formerly of Glen Cove, died on April 16, at age 68. Loving father of John Paul and Kalynnza. Hope Giordano Catalano, 88, of Manhasset and Westhampton Beach died peacefully in her sleep at home on April 9. She is predeceased by her loving husband of 38 years, Paul Catalano, and is survived by her sister Joy Billhardt and her daughters Dawn Hale of New Jersey, Joy Hepburn of New Jersey and Deirdre Olsen of New York. Her favorite role was that of “Gamma” to grandchildren Faith, Dylan, Charlotte, Grace, JP, Jake, Gavin, Cameron and Karyna and great-grandchildren Nellie Hope, Theo and Mica. Virginia M. Izzo, of Port Washington, died on April 17. Virginia was born on Sept. 22, 1921. Wife of the late Joseph. Survived by her loving sons Joseph Jr. (Rita) and Richard (Francine). Cherished Grandmother of Brian (Angela) Monahan and Gail (Michael) Naviasky. Great-Grandmother of Jack, Avery, Jenna, Grant, and Nora. One of many “Rosie the Riveters” during WWII. Member of the PWFD Ladies Auxiliary.

Veronica Ann Davis Mosby was born in Amityville, to Veronica and Carl M. Davis. The newlyweds enjoyed a dude ranch honeymoon and then settled in Andrew’s hometown of Port Washington. Pre-deceased by her husband, “Big Andy,” and a grandson, Luke Buss, she is survived by her much loved children, Wendy (Warren) Trunz of Port Washington; Andrew E. of Port; and, Jill Buss of Manchester, VT; five grandchildren Warren (Kathy) and Grace Trunz; Grant and Noelle Mosby; and, James Buss. A memorial service will be held in the future.

Mary Oldak, loved by her family as Mom, Grandma and Mary Liz died peacefully on April 25 in her Port Washington home with family. Mary had Alzheimer’s disease for years and passed away from complications. Mary was predeceased by her husband Edward Oldak (1995) and her mother Helen Liston (1983). She is survived by the Oldak children: John and his wife Suzanne, Ed and his wife Kathy, Anne and Mary. A private family service was held at Nassau Knolls Cemetery and a memorial celebrating her life will be held in the near future.

Pauline B. Hribok, 64 year resident of Seaford, peacefully passed away on April 10, at the age of 93. Reunited in heaven with her beloved husband of 63 years, Daniel. Loving mother and mother-in-law of Daniel Paul and Mary Ellen Hribok. Cherished grandmother to Laura. Pauline will be buried at National Cemetery in Farmingdale. Dorothy L. Royal, of New Cassel/Westbury, passed away on March 26, at the age 87. A pillar of strength and community leadership, Dorothy leaves to continue her legacy and will be dearly missed by her beloved children—Valerie, Glenda, Gregory, Doreen and Jeffrey, a multitude of friends, and extended community. A community activist for more than 50 years, Dorothy served as a member or held leadership positions with the following organizations—the Girl Scouts of America, the National Rainbow Coalition, Nassau County’s Literacy Program, Civilian Police Academy Alumni Association, the Black Catholic Ministry at St. Brigid’s Parish, the NAACP, the Nassau County Retired Seniors Volunteer Program at the Westbury Senior Center, and as Queen Mother of the Wise Women of Westbury’s Red Hatter Society. Virginia M. Izzo, of Port Washington, died on April 17. Virginia was born on Sept. 22, 1921. Wife of the late Joseph. Survived by her loving sons Joseph Jr. (Rita) and Richard (Francine). Cherished Grandmother of Brian (Angela) Monahan and Gail (Michael) Naviasky. Great-Grandmother of Jack, Avery, Jenna, Grant, and Nora. One of many “Rosie the Riveters” during WWII. Member of the PWFD Ladies Auxiliary.

Veronica Ann Davis Mosby was born in Amityville, to Veronica and Carl M. Davis. The newlyweds enjoyed a dude ranch honeymoon and then settled in Andrew’s hometown of Port Washington. Pre-deceased by her husband, “Big Andy,” and a grandson, Luke Buss, she is survived by her much loved children, Wendy (Warren) Trunz of Port Washington; Andrew E. of Port; and, Jill Buss of Manchester, VT; five grandchildren Warren (Kathy) and Grace Trunz; Grant and Noelle Mosby; and, James Buss. A memorial service will be held in the future.

Mary Oldak, loved by her family as Mom, Grandma and Mary Liz died peacefully on April 25 in her Port Washington home with family. Mary had Alzheimer’s disease for years and passed away from complications. Mary was predeceased by her husband Edward Oldak (1995) and her mother Helen Liston (1983). She is survived by the Oldak children: John and his wife Suzanne, Ed and his wife Kathy, Anne and Mary. A private family service was held at Nassau Knolls Cemetery and a memorial celebrating her life will be held in the near future.

SEAFORD

Pauline B. Hribok, 64 year resident of Seaford, peacefully passed away on April 10, at the age of 93. Reunited in heaven with her beloved husband of 63 years, Daniel. Loving mother and mother-in-law of Daniel Paul and Mary Ellen Hribok. Cherished grandmother to Laura. Pauline will be buried at National Cemetery in Farmingdale. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the family will have a memorial service at St. Luke’s in the future. A private interment was held  at Long Island National Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to Arthur F. White Funeral Home, Inc.

WESTBURY

Dorothy L. Royal, of New Cassel/Westbury, passed away on March 26, at the age 87. A pillar of strength and community leadership, Dorothy leaves to continue her legacy and will be dearly missed by her beloved children—Valerie, Glenda, Gregory, Doreen and Jeffrey, a multitude of friends, and extended community. A community activist for more than 50 years, Dorothy served as a member or held leadership positions with the following organizations—the Girl Scouts of America, the National Rainbow Coalition, Nassau County’s Literacy Program, Civilian Police Academy Alumni Association, the Black Catholic Ministry at St. Brigid’s Parish, the NAACP, the Nassau County Retired Seniors Volunteer Program at the Westbury Senior Center, and as Queen Mother of the Wise Women of Westbury’s Red Hatter Society. Arrangements were entrusted to Donohue Cecere Funeral Directors of Westbury.
