According to the New York Forward website, forward.ny.gov, “Coronavirus is still active in New York, we have to be smart, wear a mask and maintain social distancing.” Also, remember to wash your hands. Following these protocols has helped NY rebound from the peak of COVID-19. Thanks to everyone for their cooperation with health and safety protocols, also for continuing to shop/dine local and support the local merchants, we are “in this together, Daler Strong.”

As previously mentioned, Parking lot 4 behind Dark Horse/the firehouse/village hall is completed with the exception of poles which are expected to be installed by the end of July. It includes a new fueling station behind the fire house with a new pump and increased fuel capacity for village vehicles to make sure the village isn’t caught short in an emergency. And it’s both about beautification and also access/safety. Lot 4 originally had 270 parking stalls and now with the new additions by cross-access and lot layout; there are currently 348 parking stalls. This does not include the fire department section which gained one stall, for a total of 22.

The LIRR and National Grid continue to work in the village on upgrades, also expected to be completed by the end of July. National Grid is also scheduled to complete their new gas main and service connections by the end of July. Plans are being made to repave Main Street in the central business district in the near future along with new lighting and sidewalk rehabilitation. The village will be using grant money from the County of Nassau for the Main Street improvements.

Update on New York State Route 109 (Fulton Street) re-paving; the village received notification of the contract vendor for paving Route 109 from the State. As most of you know, the state roads, Route 24 and Route 109, are truck routes, keeping trucks off of the residential streets. National Grid has been doing work on Route 109, and we will follow-up for a timeline update for the re-paving work.

Several merchants are planning a comedy night downtown, Charlotte’s Speakeasy, Dark Horse Tavern and Frankie’s Eastside on Tuesday night July 21, check their websites, social media online for more details.

The village continues to communicate with and work with County Executive Laura Curran, Town of Oyster Bay Supervisor Joseph Saladino, Governor Andrew Cuomo, their staff and their public health advisors. Rest assured, the village continues to advise the public of information concerning the Corona Virus pandemic (via the village website: www.farmingdalevillage.com, via telephone, via constant contact), and the village shall immediately implement any additional orders and effectuate any additional public health actions intended to preserve the well-being of our residents and the public at large. Just a reminder to maintain social distancing and avoid gatherings.

On behalf of the Farmingdale Village Board of Trustees and myself, we thank everyone for their understanding and cooperation during this crisis, stay safe and healthy–brighter days are ahead. Check www.farmingdalevillage.com often for information, news and bulletins.
