Garden City HS Congratulates National Merit Semifinalists

Garden City High School is proud to announce that four seniors have been recognized as National Merit Semifinalists in this year’s National Merit Scholarship Program.

Congratulations to Ian Bailey, Anteng Chen, Ryan Padala and Anthony Remick for this prestigious accomplishment.

Semifinalist distinctions are presented annually based on students’ PSAT/NMSQT performances. The results of this qualifying test are submitted to the National Merit
Scholarship Corporation, which identifies the highest scorers from a pool of more than 1.6 million entrants.

Approximately 16,000 semifinalists are now eligible to advance as finalists— a status that brings the potential to compete for scholarship awards.

“We are so pleased to congratulate our semifinalists; this achievement reflects the dedication and effort that takes place behind the scenes,” Superintendent of Schools Dr. Kusum Sinha said. “These students’ hard work in the classroom, participation in school programs and involvement in the community has led to well-deserved acknowledgment. We wish them luck in the next phase of the competition.”
