What we now know as present day Jericho began as farmland in the mid-1600s. English Quaker settlers briefly lived under Dutch rule until the 1660s, and most of it remained that way for almost 300 years until suburban development came to Jericho . Betsey Murphy, our library local historian, shares some pictures of the development that took place in now familiar places.
