Carter Rubin, 15, of Shoreham, has advanced to the final round of NBC’s The Voice.

The sophomore Shoreham-Wading River High School student is the last member of judge and mentor Gwen Stefani’s team left in the competition, along with two singers from Team Blake (Shelton), one from Team (John) Legend, and one from Team Kelly (Clarkson).

After last night’s results show, Gwen tweeted: “wow! so proud of u @carterjrubin finals here we come! #TheVoice #TeamGwen gx.”

Carter tweeted a photo of him and Gwen on stage and wrote: “BEYOND GRATEFUL for all of you C’MON FINALE #TheVoice #VoiceLives #TeamGwen.”

On Monday night, Carter brought his mentor to tears with his rendition of “Rainbow Connection” from The Muppets Movie. He dedicated the performance to his brother, Jack, who is on the autism spectrum. Then, during the live results show that aired on NBC last night at 8 p.m., host Carson Daly asked Carter what lessons can be learned from his brother.

“My brother, Jack, and a lot of people on the autism spectrum see things a little differently than many of us,” he said. “And I don’t think that’s a bad thing. In fact, it’s a quite beautiful thing, and I think if we all took a second and tried to see the world through their eyes, we’d all be kinder, we’d be more patient, and we’d be more accepting.

“We all just want love and respect,” he continued. “And I thank my brother for teaching me those lessons.”

Tune in to watch Carter perform in the finals of The Voice on Monday, Dec. 14 at 8 p.m. on NBC. The next night, also at 8 p.m. on NBC, the winner among the top five contestants will be revealed.
