Fun Fact: If you’re looking to expand your furry family, be sure to ask the shelter or rescue if your new addition gets along with other cats or dogs. Staff is trained to test shelter animals with other animals, so they will know what’s best for you and your new and current pet. And don’t judge by age- a new puppy may not love an older dog and vice versa. All animals are different, age aside!

Callie is the sweetest little Shepherd mix (about 35 pounds) found wandering around Texas with her puppy. Mom and son came to Last Hope on a Texas rescue transport in November when Callie tested positive for heartworm. But that doesn’t stop this 2-year-old cutie from anything! Callie loves kids, gets along with other dogs and is at the midpoint of her heartworm treatment under Last Hope’s care. She needs a foster or foster-to-adopt home where she can finish her recovery in a quiet setting after her last immiticide injections to rid her of heartworm. Last Hope pays all veterinary expenses until she tests heartworm free.
To meet Callie by appointment at Last Hope in Wantagh, please complete & submit a dog adoption application found on the Last Hope website homepage https://lasthopeanimalrescue.org/

There are a lot of questions for 6-year-old Trebek (Adoption #H207860) that only he has the answers to, and lately he’s begun to offer some clues to his happiness. Given all the time he needs to relearn his feelings about trusting humans, he’s experiencing a refreshing change in spirit lately. Introductions to new friends in a quiet space have highlighted a more playful side to this typically shy fellow. It’s warmed all of our hearts to see him join in on some fun and games with his feline friends. While strangers still make Trebek feel in “Jeopardy”, a quiet, cat-experienced home with children 16 years old and older will help him become a champion. Watching him enjoy his fellow felines shows us that a confident cat in his home, eager to show him clues about his new life, will help bring him further away from his fearful beginnings. Trebek is ready to answer more questions if you’re ready to give him time and a patient heart.
**Senior Alert** A local rescue hero discovered 10-year-old Gertrude (Adoption #H210189) fending for herself out in the elements last fall and secured her a safer retirement than the busy lot she occupied. We all agree that this shy senior deserves so much more than she had on the streets. Gertrude has been tucked away in a quiet space away from the bustling Bianca’s Furry Friends Feline Adoption Center to provide her a safe place to adapt to life as a treasured family member. There she’s making great strides in widening her circle of trusted friends. NSALA is seeking a loving, peaceful home with fearful cat-experienced adults and children 16 years and older who can offer Gertrude the predictable life she craves. Once Gertrude’s trust is gained, she responds with a full heart of gratitude.

Shy at first, these devoted 3-year-old siblings warm up to a patient hand bearing treats! We seek a home with children ten years and older, and cat-experienced adults willing to offer Fritz and Ellie the time and space they need to adjust to their new setting. Bonus points if you have a confident cat in your home looking for some playful new friends. With only a little patience and a pocketful of treats, you’ll soon discover the playful sides of Fritz and Ellie; they’ll be livening up your living room in no time!
**Double Adoption** Let us introduce you to the sweetest pair of 5-year-old tabby sisters: Potato Bug (Adoption #BF1971) and Lady Bug (Adoption #BF1972)! Potato Bug is giving her all to help her shyer sister Potato Bug adjust to shelter living after spending their previous years in a loving home. As grateful as they are to be safe in Bianca’s Furry Friends Feline Adoption Center, they’re hoping a furrrever home is on the horizon, and with purrsonalities as gentle as theirs, we’re confident their dreams will come true soon. If you’d like a pair of breathtaking bugs to keep you company on your couch, you’re just a car ride away from making everyone’s dreams a reality!
