A pair of Long Island health and wellness experts are spicing up a virtual cooking class focused on heart-healthy foods.
Apron Masters Kitchen will host a healthy-eating, virtual seminar/cooking class, Heart to Heart, on Feb. 9, that viewers can follow and cook along to while doing their part to eat better for American Heart Month. The event will be hosted by Dr. Jordana Rothschild, a preventive medicine physician, and Sara Fins, an integrative nutrition health coach.
The program will be held via Zoom and discuss the relationship between nutrition, heart health and heart disease. Rothschild and Fins will go through some everyday food choices that can aid in health and wellness for everyone, while also demonstrating how to cook a menu of healthy and delicious food. For all participants, the fun begins at 7 p.m., but be sure to arrive 15 minutes early at 6:45 p.m. for guidance on preparation of the food.
VIP participants will take part in a Q&A with special guest Naomi Ross, a culinary director, as well as Rothschild and Fins. Also included in the VIP experience is a voucher for a 15-minute, 1-on-1 coaching consultation with the presenter of your choice. VIP participants will also receive a bonus recipe courtesy of Apron Masters Kitchen.
The menu for the event includes a balanced, three-course meal, starting with a kale salad with avocado, pomegranate and light vinaigrette, followed by a Mediterranean fish en Papillote, which has snapper with tomatoes, olives, garlic, shallot and herbs steamed in parchment, and finally fruit and nut energy balls that are mixed dried fruits and walnuts enrobed in dark chocolate.
Tickets for this American Heart Month Celebration are available here. When you buy your ticket, you will receive a list of necessary ingredients, as well as the recipes to follow along at home, a Heart Health Guide PDF and the Zoom link for the event. Ticket prices start at $24.99; the VIP experience tickets are $49.99.
A third option is also available, for $69.99 you may select an optional ingredients box, in which Apron Masters Kitchen will provide all necessary ingredients, pre-portioned for the recipes. The ingredients box can be added on at the time of booking, and pickup will begin at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 9.
