Police Make Arrest In South Farmingdale Grand Larceny

NassauCountyPoliceDepartment.Logo .WebThe Public Information Office reports the arrest of a South Farmingdale man for a grand larceny that occurred on March 6 at 10:18 a.m. in South Farmingdale.

According to detectives, a 47-year-old female victim was shopping at the Stop N Shop located at 55 Motor Ave. when a male subject removed her pocketbook from her cart before fleeing the scene on a bicycle. Police responded and ascertained a description of the subject from the victim. At short time later, a Nassau County Police Department medic observed a subject on Melville Road matching the description and requested for officers to respond. The subject, now known as 42-year-old John Heckman, was placed under arrest without further incident.

Heckman is charged with nine counts of fourth-degree grand larceny and three counts of petit larceny. He was arraigned on March 7 in Mineola.
