Garden City High School Senior Spotlight: Paige Matarazzo

A multi-year medal winner on the National Latin Exam and participant in the National Latin Vocabulary and Roman Civilization Exams, Paige Matarazzo is a World Language Honor Society member and tutor. She also currently serves as president of the Latin Club, planning meetings and events from start to finish.

Matarazzo rose to the challenge of this school year and her efforts went a long way for members of the Latin Club. She helped to organize the annual Saturnalia celebration and planned and judged its online competitions. Matarazzo is part of a small cohort of other students who established Long Island E-Certamen organization, which served to continue to foster their love of and interest in Latin while on pause during the COVID-19 crisis. They executed multiple events remotely using online platforms and hosted schools from around the country in a high level of play, writing and asking questions.

In addition to Matarazzo’s success in Latin, she has displayed her leadership and commitment in many other activities. To name a few, she serves as the president of the Economics Club, president of the UNICEF club and is the co-creator of the Medical Club. Her academic achievements have earned her recognition as a member of the National Honor Society and National Spanish Honor Society. Matarazzo is a compassionate, reliable, and hardworking young lady who is outstanding both in and out of the classroom.
