Mayor Trouvé Presides Over Final Board Meeting

Second woman mayor in village’s history poised to pass the torch

Mayor Theresa Trouvé presided over her final board of trustees meeting on Thursday, March 25. She addressed her fellow board members, the executive staff, her family and residents.

“I have come to the last board of trustees meeting in my career,” she said. “Being the second woman to serve as mayor in 100 years in our Incorporated Village of Garden City was my greatest honor. I want to thank all of you for the support and kindness that I felt come through from you in all of our interactions. You will always be in my thoughts and prayers. When decisions were challenging, I tried to remain faithful to what I felt my residents wanted.

“It has been a wonderful period of my life and I am happy that I found the courage to say yes. I have spent 12 years of my life serving our village—about five years as a member of the Central and East POAs and seven years on the board of trustees, five as a trustee and two as mayor. I consider it one of the most golden periods of my life. So, yes, I want to thank our entire community, our trustees, our executive staff and all the devoted people we worked with every day. I will never forget the support I received from my husband. He was there with me every step of the way.”
