Event: North Shore Animal League America kicks off its 27th Annual Global Pet Adoptathon 2021 — in partnership with Purina — from Monday, April 26 through Sunday, May 2. While scaled down this year due to Covid protocols and social distancing, potential adopters will have the opportunity to choose from more than a hundred dogs, cats, puppies, and kittens waiting for loving, responsible homes. All approved adopters will receive giveaways courtesy of Purina. Interested adopters should go to animalleague.org/adopt to see adoptable animals and schedule appointments to come to the Adoption Center.

**Special Request** Fosters and/or adopters needed: Matilda, Rosalee, and Katana are heartworm-positive pooches that would do best in a Foster-to-Adopt Home while they undergo treatment to rid them of deadly heartworm. Pups must be kept calm after each immiticide treatment to prevent a pulmonary embolism while the insidious heartworms dissolve. Last Hope pays for the diagnostic tests, heartworm treatment, and all vet care until the treatment is complete and the adoption is finalized, and they will continue monitoring the dog(s) until they are declared heartworm- free!
Matilda was a surprise diagnosis. At about 2 years old, this Lab/hound lost her first home in Georgia when a young couple had a baby, and there wasn’t enough room in their apartment for a dog and a newborn. She then lost her Last Hope home under sad circumstances when her new Dad was diagnosed with a different, serious illness & must withstand treatments himself. Matilda is sweet but energetic and picky about other dogs.
Rosalee is a sweet, petite Beagle who has endured so much in her young life. She is about 4 years old and only 20 pounds. Last Hope knew she was heartworm positive when they chose her to come to Last Hope from Kentucky to be healed before she sought a home. All this tiny doll wants out of life is love and attention. She is currently on antibiotics for a recently discovered pyometra infection and will be ready for her forever home thereafter. She loves other dogs but must be kept low-key.
Katana is a 1-year-old Pittie mix who was found as a stray in Georgia and had no chance of getting the lifesaving treatment there. She adores people and likes other dogs.
If you can see it in your heart to foster-to-adopt or merely foster any of these three heartworm-positive dogs, please contact Letty at lettycanals@gmail.com.

When Roxy (Adoption #NCR5906) was rescued in North Carolina, she enjoyed the warmth of a loving foster family before traveling up north for her fresh start in Bianca’s Furry Friends Feline Adoption Center. She was adored by her fosters and continues to be adored by her fans here in New York who shower her with all the attention she requests. When not busy with lengthy petting sessions, 2-year-old Roxy can be found nosing around her room taking in all the sights and smells of her temporary home. NSALA anticipates her brightening the days of an extremely lucky family very soon!
Tender tuxedo Jovana (Adoption #NCR5916) has traveled a long way from her stray cat days in North Carolina. Although this shy 1-year-old young lady doesn’t know it yet, her luck is about to change for the better once some wonderful humans give her the chance she’s been waiting for — a home to call her own. Don’t let a little bashfulness come between you becoming fast friends. Just a kind word of reassurance and a blink of the eye is all you’ll need to start a very loving relationship with Jovana!
One-year-old Zip (Adoption #NCR5920) has been zip, zip, zipping around his cage-free sunny room in Bianca’s Furry Friends Feline Adoption Center since he arrived from his overcrowded shelter in North Carolina. This energetic cloud of a cat can be climbing to new heights as he discovers every corner of his room, but he’s a little shy about introductions with human friends. Help him out by offering him a hand to sniff, and we predict Zip will soon be zipping into your lap in his very first home!
Six-year-old Gary Pepper (Adoption #BF3722) has a style all his own. This distinguished FIV+ tuxedo looks elegant at any social gathering but prefers intimate ones where your hands are at his disposal for frequent ear rubs. Gary is very grateful for the opportunity to live the rest of his life safely indoors. Locally rescued, he knows he’s in the best hands and looks forward to chatting with you about how lucky you’ll both be if you choose him to join the family.
**Double Adoption** All around good guy Seymour (Adoption #WV0707) can be found cuddling his shyer friend Viveca (Adoption #WV0712) as they settle into life together in Bianca’s Furry Friends Feline Adoption Center. While 1-year-old Seymour has a plucky purrsonality that faces all new experiences with gusto, 5-month-old Viveca is less certain about changes. Their love transcends all obstacles, and this dynamic couple is willing to wait until the right humans come along to offer them a wonderful home to explore together. Seymour will always be up for exploration, but he’ll make sure he’s nearby in case Viveca needs a reassuring cuddle to get her through the day. You’re going to find this very bonded couple the most charming pair you could invite into your heart!
What’s a good looking guy like Manrico (Adoption #WV0709) got to do to get your attention and a car ride home today? This abundantly purrfect 1-year-old orange tabby from West Virginia has a low key personality that’s irresistible to all the cats in his room at Bianca’s Furry Friends Feline Adoption Center. Don’t get him wrong, cats are fabulous, but he knows humans have the ear rubs and treats. Want to help him out and offer him a place in your heart furrrever? Manrico will be waiting by the door!

Tobias is a 2-year old hound mix, weighing about 40 pounds. He is super playful, very energetic, and very sweet. He loves to play for hours, especially with other dogs, then he’ll take a nap in a sunny spot on the floor. He is dog friendly, kid friendly, and loves all people. Cats are an unknown. He needs a fully fenced-in yard and an active, present owner. He is neutered and fully vetted, crate trained, and would do best in a home with another dog.
If you have the heart and the home for this sweet boy, please contact adoptions@paws-li.org or call (631) 306-4616 today!
