Dogs and cats make some of the best moms on the planet, so let’s reward them by giving them a home of their own this Mother’s Day weekend!
Available for adoption at the Town of Smithtown Animal Shelter
Gavin is a rather handsome 7-year-old Shepherd Mix who was picked up as a stray and never claimed. Gavin is house-trained and very well-behaved, with excellent manners. He knows his commands and walks well while on a leash. Some of his favorite things include snacks, belly rubs, and going on walks! Gavin is a gentle and shy pup who is slowly starting to come out of his shell. Due to his shyer nature, he would prefer a quieter home without small children. If you are interested in meeting Gavin, please call ahead to schedule an hour to properly interact with him in a domestic setting, which includes the shelter’s Meet and Greet Room, the dog runs, and Dog Walk trail. 631-360-7575.
Available for adoption through Almost Home at The Shabby Tabby in Sayville
Jasper is such a dapper gentleman! He is very sweet and loves to be pet. He came to Almost Home from BACC and is living the life at the Shabby Tabby Cafe. He is a diabetic but takes his medicine like a true champ!
Miss Lucy is exhausted from her move to the Shabby Tabby. She comes from a very reputable rescuer as she was living outdoors and is way too friendly for that! Lucy loves to be pet and loves hanging out with humans. She will make a great addition to any family.
Oreo is a beautiful 3-year-old boy who was surrendered when his mom had to go into an assisted living facility and could not take him. He is affectionate and loves being pet. Oreo will do great in any home!

**Senior Alert** Shadow (Adoption #BF3141) never had humans he could depend on before he arrived at our Medical Center last year. This cautious 10-year-old needed a lot of time, space, and encouragement to come around to a whole new approach to life. NSALA has been spoiling him with yummy food which he laps up with gusto and gentle conversation about how safe he is now and will be forever. Although Shadow is slow to open up to human companionship, he adores his feline friends. His years of survival outdoors left him FIV+, but he’s a lover, not a fighter. Snuggling up close to his buddies is his favorite way to pass a day. NSALA is looking for a home with cats for Shadow because this will be his first safe one, and cats give him the confidence he needs to transition successfully. If you have experience with fearful cats, and a quiet predictable home with children age 16 years and older, please consider making room in your heart for an endearing survivor who will be so grateful to live out his life in your safe haven.
**Senior Alert** 10-year-old Angola’s (Adoption #BF3619) days of fending for herself outside are over now that she’s safely tucked into a comfy bed in a very quiet space at Bianca’s Furry Friends Feline Adoption Center. Angola is looking for someone who will be as devoted to her as we have been, providing her a peaceful life and all the time she needs to learn to trust humans again. A cat-experienced home with children ages 12 and older will provide this wonderful lady with a great start to her new life. As shy as she can seem with her human friends, is as comfortable as she is around felines. Angola isn’t looking for an exciting life; she dreams of a peaceful spot where she can be lazy, with a caring family gently reassuring her she is safe and finally home.
Mama Rosie (Adoption# L80613) was found pregnant and wandering the local streets by a hero who promised her the rest of her life would be far safer than how it began. This stunning dilute tortie is a lucky mama indeed because she got to care for her kittens in the safety of our nursery before being offered a comfortable place to wait for the chance for her furrever family to discover her. It’s hard to believe this 1-year-old lady was a mama cat; she’s such a kitten herself! NSALA would love to reward Rosie’s hard work with a peaceful home, one with children 6 years old and above and no other pets, where she can fully relish her newfound life as a member of a family. What better way to celebrate Mother’s Day than to adopt this mama cat ready to be babied herself!
Four-year-old Blaquee (Adoption #H208247) recently lost his home and is seeking a fresh start. This devoted best friend wants to make a lasting impression upon you. You’ll find him belly up and bunny paws out waiting to receive a good long chin scratch from you. Blaquee is used to being the solo pet in his home, so he’s looking for the kind of peace and quiet that comes from being the only furry friend. A quiet home with children 8 years old and above will give him the welcome he needs to settle in for success. He’ll be endlessly grateful and devoted to the one who chooses to make him part of the family!
Although Maddie (Adoption #NCR5924) is still a very young lady, this 2-year-old feels like she’s been searching for her furrever home for a very long time. She lost her original home in North Carolina when her family moved away and left her behind in a shelter. NSALA heard high praises from her foster family about what a delightful lap cat she is once she felt safe and loved. Now Maddie has been welcomed in NY with a brand-new chance at a happy new beginning. This lovely lady has helped us narrow the scope of homes that will work best for her by telling us she’s ready to be the sole object of affection to a devoted human, in a peaceful home with understanding children eight years old and up. Craving peace and quiet, Maddie dreams of being loved by someone who understands her journey has left her a little dubious. Your kindness and encouragement are all she needs to overcome her trepidation and roll right into receiving the chin rubs she craves.
A local rescue hero gave Bella Baker (Adoption #BF3721) a chance at a brighter future when she was brought into Bianca’s Furry Friends Feline Adoption Center. This spry 9-year-old clearly misses the lap she lost recently but makes herself right at home on any new lap that becomes available to her. The look of bliss on her face is all you need to know she’s meant to be yours. And if that sweet smile isn’t enough, she has one endearing snaggle tooth poking out just to make sure she’s grabbed your entire heart. Bella isn’t a big fan of feline roommates, so we have a feeling she’s lived as an only pet her whole life. NSALA is looking to restore her happiness by finding her a forever lap she won’t ever have to share again.
