Garden City High School Senior Spotlight: Oludamilola ‘Dami’ Dawodu

Oludamilola “Dami” Dawodu is an impressive member of the Garden City High School senior class, evident in her many accomplishments and leadership roles.

Recently, State Senator Anna Kaplan presented Dawodu with an award commendation that recognizes students who have shown an appreciation for African-American culture and demonstrated leadership in the community. Dawodu has served as captain of the tennis and badminton teams and been involved in the Peer Educator program since her sophomore year.

Successful in the arts as well, Dawodu has been a committed member of the Dance Club and now has an executive role as vice president of the group. Her talents have earned her acceptance into the International Thespian Society, and she acted in a student-run web mini-series titled “Lockdown.” She also sits on the board for the Tri-M Music Honor Society and has played the violin for the school orchestra since ninth grade.

Faculty members describe Dawodu as hard-working, funny, and dynamic, with a well-rounded personality that will help her excel at Wake Forest University next year as a member of their class of 2025.
