Emanuel Mermel of Manhasset this summer will join fellow youngsters from across the nation to take part in a unique academic development experience in Washington D.C. called the Junior National Young Leaders Conference (JrNYLC).

JrNYLC is among the Envision by WorldStrides family of programs that enables students to explore their interests and experience learning beyond the classroom.

Emanuel was nominated to attend the forum by his fourth grade teacher at Schechter School of Long Island in Williston Park. In addition to a strong academic record in a dual curriculum school, Emanuel exhibits leadership qualities both within the classroom and after school. He is passionate about performing in the school’s dramatic productions, learning to play guitar and coding computer games. With dreams of becoming a real estate mogul and author, Emanuel hopes to glean valuable skills and experiences through the JrNYLC program.

“As an alumna of Envision myself, I am excited for Emanuel to meet, work, and collaborate with other high-aspiring students from across the country,” Amanda Freitag Thomas of Envision said. “Hands down, my favorite part of attending an Envision program was being with motivated students in an environment designed to help us challenge our assumptions, meet new people and grow. Creating that same learning environment is a central focus for all of our programs.”

At JrNYLC, Freitag Thomas added, students are able to built the confidence and skills needed to excel in high school, college and the workplace as they learn how to adapt to and communicate in new situations. Given how the world is changing due to technology and innovation, the ability to adapt is essential for success.
