**Double Adoption and Senior Alert** Five-year-old Bear (Adoption #BF3518) was discovered by a local rescuer and was offered a quiet place to relearn how he feels about humans. At the same time, 10-year-old Simba’s (Adoption #H202720) life was turned upside down when he found himself bereft after losing the only home he’d ever known. These very different boys found themselves needing the same nurturing and support they felt in a very quiet, cage-free room they shared. Over time, NSALA’s team discovered this friendship gives them each the courage to push through their fears and learn together how to navigate through their new lives. A peaceful, cat-experienced home with children twelve and older is our ultimate goal for Bear and Simba, who may have had very different life experiences before they were rescued but are bonded through the brotherhood of friendship.
Looking for a lovely new love of your life? Search no further than Felicity (Adoption #L80574)! This five-month-old terrific tabico is going to catch someone’s eye very quickly. NSALA is hoping that a lucky someone scoops her up and reassures her the next phase of her life will be the best one. Why? Because she gets to become a member of your family!
**Double Adoption** Need a pair of kittens to put a smile on your face? Five-month-olds Piper (Adoption #NCI2251) and Dexter (Adoption #NCI2252) are the purrfect choice for you. These bonded siblings were born with smiles on their faces and have everything you could be hoping for wrapped up in little tuxedo coats! Two is more fun than one — and a lot less work for the humans. Just show them your home and watch them fill it up with laughter and love! And remember, when you adopt an animal, you’re saving two lives: the one you adopt and the one we now have room to rescue … so adopting two kittens means you’re saving four lives.
**Double Adoption** Five-year-olds Jesse (Adoption #H208030) and Dusty (Adoption #H208031) recently lost the only home they’d ever known due to allergies, so the NSALA team welcomed them back into our care, promising them better days are ahead. While Jesse’s heart is full of gratitude, his less courageous brother is watching close by to figure out who he can trust. Together, they are helping each other face uncertainty, and NSALA is here to assure them they’ll soon be cherished again as the heart of a family. If you’d like to give these chunky brothers the home they’ve been missing, please ask about meeting them today.
**Double Adoption** This pair of shy four-month-old kittens clung to each other as they settled into the safety of Bianca’s Furry Friends Feline Adoption Center. Taco (Adoption #NCI2357) and Burrita traveled all the way from NSALA’s sister shelter in Glen Falls, hopeful for an opportunity to be discovered by their family. You may have to speak up when talking to Burrita with those impressive ear tufts, but Taco knows what she needs to do to win you over. Those slow blinks are mesmerizing! If you have a quiet, predictable home with children ten and older, we have a pair of devoted sisters who would love to make it their own!
Can you believe tiny Meadow (Adoption #SCR3136) was a momma cat? She’s practically a kitten herself! We’re thrilled to offer this one-year-old South Carolina rescue the opportunity to spend the rest of her life indoors as a member of a loving family, perhaps her first! No more babies for this baby; it’s time for her to blossom. If your heart is set on someone young, fun, stunning, and grateful, please swing by and meet Meadow today

His favorite activities include swimming in the kiddie pool, going on walks, and playing with toys. He is also a big eater and a big kisser! Blaze should be the only pet in an adult-only home, and any potential owners should have experience with his breed.

Available for adoption at Town of Hempstead Animal Shelter
Thor, Baldur, and Hela found their way to the TOH Animal Shelter after animal control removed them from the yard of an abandoned home that was supposedly lived in by squatters. There was no sign of food or water, and when staff and volunteers fed them for the first time, they ate very fast.
Thor is very sweet, very playful, very puppy-like, loves playing with toys, and absolutely LOVES attention. He is slightly cautious when meeting new people but warms up very quickly and will roll over for belly rubs. Thor is dog friendly and recommended for a home with kids 13 and up with a family with Mastiff experience.
Baldur is very sweet, calmer than his sweet brother Thor and very playful. Baldur enjoys meeting new people, and is dog friendly, although a bit more cautious than his bro, Thor. Baldur is the smaller of the two as well and is on the search for a home with kids 13 and over.
Hela was a little nervous on intake, but now that she’s come out of her shell, she’s very affectionate and will solicit attention from you. She loves running around in the yard and loves treats. She is also pretty easy to walk on a leash. Once she makes her way into a loving home, she will thrive and flourish. Hela was interested in meeting the shelter’s helper dog during her dog test, but seemed a little unsure, and is on the search for a home with kids 17 and up due to her general nervousness.
If you are interested in learning more about adopting Thor, Baldur, or Hela, please contact the shelters placement team at 516.785.5220 or email adoption@tohmail.org
Available for adoption through Remember Me Rescue
Sky is a beautiful 6-year-old, blue-eyed husky purchased at a pet store by first-time dog owners. With no exercise and little structure, Sky began to run the house, as any typical husky would. She began to guard small items and the family didn’t know what to do, especially after their baby was born, so instead of investing in training, they gated her off in the hallway for a year and a half. Sky is a lovely girl who craves a leader. She is funny and happy. She loves to go on walks and hikes and if you have another active male who doesn’t mind a pretty lady taking charge … they would be great friends. Sky is currently in Albany in an awesome board and train who is addressing her guarding issues which can be easily managed with structure. Anyone who adopts Sky will get two free sessions from her trainer.
As beautiful as her name, Rosebud is a 5-year-old, 50-pound herding dog mix who can be a bit shy at first but she gets to know you, she loves you without question! Rosebud was an owner surrender who was locked in a bedroom most of her life (which explains the shyness). She would do best without other dogs in her new home.
If you or someone you know would like to adopt Sky or Rosebud, please email Rmrescueny@gmail.com
As always, thanks for reading and please remember to always adopt, never shop…pass it on!
