Police Make Arrest In Bethpage Robbery

NassauCountyPoliceDepartment.Logo .WebThe Major Case Bureau reports the arrest of a Smithtown man for a robbery that occurred on Oct. 6 at 8:46 a.m. in Bethpage.

According to Robbery Squad detectives, 40-year-old Philip Ferrito entered the TD Bank located at 145 Stewart Ave. He approached the teller and passed a note demanding money. The teller complied and Ferrito received an undetermined amount of currency before fleeing to his vehicle nearby. There were three employees and no customers inside the bank during this incident. No injuries were reported.

After a subsequent investigation, Ferrito was located and placed into custody. The investigation further revealed that the defendant’s three-year-old child was present in a rear car seat of his vehicle during the robbery.

Ferrito is charged with third-degree robbery and endangering the welfare of a child. He was arraigned on Oct. 7 in First District Court in  Hempstead.
