Making Waves With The Aquatic Center Tours And Fair Booths

On Oct. 9, Hicksville Public Schools was excited for the return of the much-anticipated Homecoming Fall Fair. Student, parents and community members of all ages enjoyed the annual, celebratory event held on the back fields of Hicksville High School.

Various groups hosted booths with games and activities from face painting, ring tosses, jewelry making, bounce houses, basket raffles are so much more.

The Hicksville Public School PTA organizations, student clubs, student governments and booster clubs sponsored booth for students to partake.

New this year was a tour of the new Hicksville Aquatic Center located at Hicksville High School. Community members and families were able to pass through the Aquatic Center to see the competition certified 25–yard, six-lane, heated lap pool with diving board. The pool follows USA Swimming requirements. The new building size is 17,952 square feet with corridors and vestibules connecting to the existing high school building. The Aquatic Center includes the new swimming pool, adjoining male and female locker rooms with showers and toilet facilities, coaches’ offices, a concession stand and bleachers for viewing meets.

Hicksville Public Schools is proud to offer a new home to the Hicksville Swim Teams. Currently, the Hicksville High School Girls’ Varsity Swim Team and the newly created Hicksville Middle School Girls’ Swim Team practices and competes in the Aquatic Center during the fall sports’ season.

This winter, the Hicksville Public Schools’ Boys’ Varsity and Middle School Swim Teams will practice and compete in the Aquatic Center. Pending board of education approval, more information will follow regarding community use of the Aquatic Center.
