Police Arrest Westbury Man For DWI In Fatal Accident In East Garden City

The Homicide Squad reports the details of a fatal vehicular accident that occurred at 3:53 p.m. on Nov. 8 in East Garden City.

According to detectives, a 54-year-old female driver of a red SUV was struck by a tow truck flatbed driven by a 57-year-old male, in front of 877 Stewart Ave. The collision then caused the tow truck flatbed to strike a white van.

The 54-year-old operator of the red SUV and her 16-year-old male passenger, were transported to a local hospital. As a result of the collision, the operator of the white van was pronounced deceased at the scene. No other injuries were reported.

The victim’s name is being withheld at this time and the investigation into the accident continues.

James Skow, 57, of Westbury was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated, second-degree vehicular manslaughter and  second-degree manslaughter. Skow was arraigned in First District Court in Hempstead on Nov. 9.
