On Thursday, Oct. 28, The Hicksville Middle School (HMS) hosted its Wellness Walk. Students through their health classes and some physical education classes walked the track during one designated period throughout the day.
The event was held to raise awareness and fundraiser for the COPD Foundation. Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, or COPD, relates to the diseases that makes breathing difficult, such emphysema and chronic bronchitis.
The staff and students were able to raise money through the after-school sales of lollipops for students and T-shirt sales for staff.
The participation was overwhelming and the building has already raised $507 to date and the number keeps rising. Great job, HMS.
