Here’s Why You Should Adopt One of These Loving Pets on Long Island

pjimage – 2022-05-13T165430.191

And the five top reasons for adopting a new best friend this week are…

  1. You contribute to reducing overpopulation of unwanted animals.

  2. Sky’s the limit on choices! It’s your pick on any breed, age, etc.

  3. You’re saving two lives. The one of your new pets and the space you created for another homeless animal.

  4. Adoption is less expensive than buying an animal from a breeder.

  5. Saving a life is one of the most rewarding actions you can ever take. So don’t wait, head out and find your new bestie today!

Sheba

Ice
Ice

**Senior Alert and Special Request** Ice was turned over to the shelter when his owner left him with a caretaker and never came back for him. At around 11 years old there is no doubt that Ice is a senior with a short time ahead of him. He does deserve dignity and love during the time he has left, and most of all he deserves a home. It takes a special adopter to know that they will have a short journey with Ice, but we know they are out there. Ice is a sweet boy who loves to adventure on his own; he is an independent type of guy. Ice enjoys being pet and he makes his connection before he is on to his next good smell to come across. Ice would love to meet you and show you that he deserves a soft place to lay his weary head.

Bahama
Bahama

**Senior Alert and Special Request** At 12 years old, Bahama is a senior guy who lost his home when his family lost their home. Bahama may have a short span ahead of him, but wouldn’t it be wonderful for it to be in a home. Bahama spent his whole life as an unneutered male, and he was used as a stud dog so living with another dog in a home could be challenging. Bahama is a sweet boy, and he has lots of love to offer! Bahama walks nicely on a leash and tends to get tired easily especially on warmer days.

Lucas
Lucas

**Senior Alert and Special Request** Lucas is a senior guy who appears to have lived the ruff and tough life. Arriving in November of last year, his body is worn but his mind is sharp. Lucas takes a bit of time to warm up but once he gets some good butt scratches, he is all yours. He walks nicely on a leash, and he loves to talk. Lucas can out-howl a Husky on any given day. Lucas would love the idea of a home to be spoiled in; he does need to be the only pet. Please consider giving this senior boy a retirement home.

Available for adoption at the Town of Smithtown Animal Shelter

**Special Request** Mia is a 3-year-old Mastiff and Lab Mix who has sadly been a resident of the animal shelter for more than two years. She is a goofy dog that loves to play and throw toys around. Mia is a big fan of going on car rides and snuggling up with her favorite people! It takes her some time to get used to strangers, but once you become friends with her, she’ll reward you with kisses for life. She will need a home that can properly introduce her to new people in a way that makes her feel safe. Mia would do best in a home without any other pets or children.

If you are interested in meeting Mia, call ahead to schedule an hour to properly interact with her in a domestic setting, which includes a Meet and Greet Room, the dog runs, and dog walk trail. For more information, call the Smithtown Animal Shelter at 631-360-7575.

While she is always up for a good time, Andy’s learning to open up more and more and enjoy exploring their new surroundings. Ali
Ali

Ali’s (Adoption #BF3967) local rescue hero discovered her wandering around the streets, trying to survive. The moment she arrived at Bianca’s Furry Friends Feline Adoption Center; she knew she was saved. This beautiful 7-year-old lady has a heart full of gratitude and is actively testing out the laps of visitors, hoping to find the one who fits her purrfectly. To help her in her quest for the purrfect home for her, NSALA is seeking adopters experienced in nurturing tender-hearted cats, with children over age who can show her patience and understanding as she transitions into home life. After enduring the hardship of her abandonment, Ali deserves to feel safe in her new household, one that will provide her peace as the only pet.

Jack NSALA
Jack

Happy Jack (Adoption #NCR6013) wants nothing more than to be home where he belongs. This terrific tabby will wait in a cozy bed for someone to offer him a little reassurance he’s at last safe and sound after a long trip from North Carolina. Because he can feel a little shy in new situations, NSALA is helping him find a home with older children who’ll enjoy nurturing his spirit. 20-month-old Jack would be very happy if you chose him as your partner in napping, feather hunting, and all the other adventures he’s looking forward to sharing with you in your new home together.
