Merrick native actress Lindsay Lohan is set to star in her first major film in about a decade — a Christmas rom-com coming soon to Netflix.
The Mean Girls star plays a hotel heiress who gets into a skiing accident, suffers amnesia, and falls in love with a lowly lodge owner played by Chord Overstreet of Glee fame in Falling for Christmas, which is set to drop on Nov. 10.
“It’s such a refreshing, heartwarming romantic comedy and I miss doing those kinds of movies,” Lohan told Todum. Of the skiing, she added: “All the stunt scenes were really fun for me because I haven’t gotten to do that much in a lot of my films.”
It’s her first film since 2013’s The Canyons, an erotic thriller that was critically panned. The 36-year-old actress’ lengthy rap sheet includes a 2007 guilty plea to two counts of being under the influence of cocaine.
Falling for Christmas marks a return to the more family friendly type of movies that made Lohan famous, such as Disney’s 1998 remake of The Parent Trap, her first full-length feature film. It’ll be a welcome gift for fans of Christmas movies looking for something new to watch besides the classics and The Hallmark Channel’s endless holiday movie rotation.
