Mondays at Racine Cancer Care Foundation hosted its annual fundraiser, The Long Island Beauty Ball, on Monday, Oct. 24 at Crest Hollow Country Club in Woodbury.
The event, presented New York Cancer & Blood Specialists and hosted by Newsday TV’s Elisa DiStefano, honored Sheriff Errol D. Toulon, Jr., Suffolk County’s 67th Sheriff and the county’s first African American to be elected to a non-judicial countywide office.
“This year we decided to highlight someone from our community that has really gone above and beyond to support not only our mission but the cancer community on Long Island. Sheriff Toulon is that person,” said Karla Waldron, executive director of Mondays at Racine. “A two-time cancer survivor, we couldn’t have chosen a smarter, stronger, and more compassionate person than the Sheriff as a spokesperson for our Mondays for Men program.”
Thanks to the ongoing support of the health, wellness, and beauty industries plus a strong community of volunteers and donors, this year’s event was a huge success. Proceeds from the event are used immediately, enabling Mondays at Racine to continue to maintain and grow its programming, all in support of the overall mission to reduce the physical, emotional, and cosmetic side effects of chemotherapy and radiation; all at no cost to the client.
“Seeing leaders in the health, wellness, and beauty industries, along with business owners across Long Island, come together at The Long Island Beauty Ball in support of Mondays at Racine, confirms that we are on the right path in creating great change in how we take care of people going through this devastating disease,” said Alyssa Greiner, assistant executive director of Mondays at Racine. “This event has captured the essence of the Monday’s mission and gives us the ability to provide these essential programs to more communities throughout Long Island, New York, and beyond.”
Guests were treated to a variety of exciting interactive experiences and entertainment.
