Idina Menzel, the Broadway star and singer from Syosset, will appear in the Disney+ original movie Disenchanted which begins streaming on Nov. 18.
Disenchanted is the sequel to the 2007 Disney film Enchanted. It is a musical comedy starring Amy Adams as Giselle and Patrick Dempsey as Robert, as well as Maya Rudolph as Malvina Monroe.
Menzel plays the role of Nancy Tremaine in the film. She has starred in Disney films in the past, most notably as the voice of Elsa in Frozen and Frozen II.
Menzel rose to fame on the Broadway stage in the 1996 production of Rent. She then starred as Elphaba, the Wicked Witch of the West, on Broadway’s Wicked, which earned her a Tony award for Best Actress in a Musical.
The 51-year-old was born in New York City and grew up in Syosset, attending schools in Plainview and Syosset. She earned a bachelor’s degree in drama from the NYU Tisch School of the Arts.
