Hubie (Hubert), Schubie (Schubert), and Dubie (Dubois) are a set of male guinea pig friends of unknown ages who were found by a good samaritan abandoned in Blydenburgh Park. Hubie is a shy and gentle tan and white guinea pig who loves to get treats. Schubie is a curious calico who is the largest of the group and the most outgoing. Dubie is an active black guinea pig who loves to run and play and is the smallest of the three. These sweet guys can be adopted together or separately if need be.
The Town of Smithtown Animal Shelter is not equipped to safely house animals other than dogs and cats long term. However, if an animal is in danger and needs housing temporarily until another rescue has room, they will do their best to provide safe shelter while they can. While the animal waits for space to open in another rescue, it will be available for adoption through their adoption center.

Bambino’s personality can be a lot for other pets to handle, but if you have an energetic animal already in your home looking for a co-conspirator, this could be the cat for you! This little whirlwind has a ton of energy to burn off which would make him best cared for by a cat-experienced family (with older kids or teens) able to harness his exuberance in a positive way. Two-year-old Cassie is a cutie pie—plain and simple! Offer her a chin scratch and watch the gratitude pour from her heart right into your hands. This local rescue has been abundantly grateful as she received loving care from amazing veterinary team who implemented a successful plan to care for her minor heart condition and allergy flare ups (covered medical conditions through Animal League America’s Pet Health Centers!) While she’s living large in the Kennel Managers’ office right now, it won’t be long before she’s getting to know life in her first real home. Cassie loves attention, but doesn’t love sharing it, so a home of her own would make her very happy! A household with children over age six can provide the peaceful transition she’ll need to transform into a beloved pet. No doubt about it; you’ll be cooing Cassie’s praises when she joins your family!
When 2-year-old Toby needed medical attention his family declined, Animal League America stepped in to make sure he got the treatment he needed go on with his life as a happy, healthy tabby boy. These new situations have been overwhelming for Toby, so he’s looking for a home with cat-experienced adults (and kids over age 8) to help him settle back into the safe routine of home life. He’s recovered beautifully from his ear polyp’s removal surgery and has the spirit of a warrior when it comes to tackling new obstacles. Animal League America predicts the next thing he conquers is the heart of the person lucky enough to take him home!
Beguiling 8-month-old Benny is best friend material, showing everyone just what it takes to keep him happy. You’ll find him clamoring with feline friends in his room at Bianca’s Furry Friends Feline Adoption Center because cat friends make him feel safe and relaxed. Benny can be a bit shy at first with new humans but a family with cat-experienced adults (and children over age six) will know how to soothe his concerns—and the resident feline friend will be a wonderful guide as he settles in life as part of the family.
It was a lucky day for 7-year-old Ricky when he joined the North Shore Animal League America family. He was on brink of despair, facing abandonment to the street, when they offered him the safety of a cozy bed in a peaceful room. Losing the only life he’d ever known was disarming to Ricky at first, but beneath his fretful exterior lives a resilient gentleman prepared to create new memories with a family. It didn’t take him long to join in on his fellow feline friends’ adventures in his room. Ricky has lived with a dog before and appreciates sharing a bed with a snuggle buddy making him a purrfect choice for any family!
**Double Adoption** When 7-year-olds Soyer and Oliver lost their beloved owner recently, they also lost the only home they’d ever known. Animal League America welcomed them with an arsenal of treats and tender encouragement to ready for their next family and they’ve been super-grateful for all the ear rubs they’ve been receiving. Nothing would make them happier than to land back in the loving arms of a devoted family.
Poor Bertie was down on his luck when his rescuers found him outside, braving the cold on his own. Fortunately, he was provided a nice, warm space for him to settle into while Animal League America works together to find a human committed to erasing his past and creating a new, happy future for Bertie. A home with children over the age of six will provide Bertie the peace he deserves. His tiny, imploring mews have secured him a place in our hearts, and he can’t wait to go home with someone devoted to sharing his feline feelings furever!
