Rocco is a 3-and-a-half-year-old Lab/Shar Pei/Pit Mix who arrived at the animal shelter with his siblings after their dad unexpectedly passed away. Rocco is having a difficult time adjusting to his new surroundings and can be slow to come out of his shell, but when he opens up to you, you’ll see just how energetic and friendly he can be. He enjoys running around the dog park and going for walks on a leash. He has mild allergies and some chronic ear infections and will need a home that can help manage these properly. Rocco gets along with all adults and has experience living with other dogs.
For more information or to meet any of the shelter’s cats & kittens or doggies available to adopt or foster, call the shelter today at 631-360-7575.

We don’t know what this little lady went through in her first year of life but her sweet disposition and craving for human affection leads everyone to believe she once had a home of her own but somehow ended up fending for herself on the streets of Long Island. Boots is an energetic and playful girl who loves fishing rod toys, balls, and chasing toy mice. She enjoys her daily workouts on her favorite cat scratcher and gets along quite well with other feline friends. Boots is a vocal girl with a lot to say and very much enjoys having conversations with you. She’ll eagerly greet any new humans, weaving in and out of their legs and will follow her foster humans from room to room so she can stay close by.
Boots does like to be in charge of the affection shown to her and prefers affection on her terms. She enjoys head rubs and, on the occasions, when she doesn’t want to be touched, she’ll gently stop your hand with her mouth or paw. This little lady would do best in a household without young children and would do well with an experienced adopter that is understanding and patient. Will you be the hero she’s been patiently waiting for?
