Nassau County-based Trellus, a company that offers same-day delivery for small businesses, is doling out $10,000 in grants for local shops to use its services.
Any small business on Long Island can apply for one of 20 $500 local delivery grants available to use toward a Trellus subscription and delivery costs. The application is open now through Feb. 14.
“Small businesses deserve a win against the likes of Amazon, Walmart, and other e-commerce giants. Trellus is breaking down barriers to help independently owned businesses survive,” said Trellus Co-Founder and CTO JR Jensen. “We’re thrilled to share this $10,000 with independent businesses on Long Island that are driving local economic growth and breathing life into our downtowns.”
Trellus secured the $10,000 on Dec. 15, when the company won the grand prize in the 1010 WINS Small Business $10K Challenge sponsored by Dime Community Bank.
The 16-employee start-up has been offering affordable and reliable local delivery services to small businesses for about two years. More than 80 gig drivers deliver from over 300 small businesses across Long Island seven days a week.
Trellus encourages brick-and-mortar retailers, professional services, and home-based businesses to apply for its grants, especially those with a strong community focus and particularly those owned by women, BIPOC, and military veterans.
