When 7-year-old Delaware (Adoption #BF2527) was rescued from a frightening situation last year, he was the most troubled of his clowder. Fortunately for this stoic gentleman, he landed safely in the care of Animal League America’s compassionate team who ask nothing of him but to feel comfortable in the first safe place he’s ever inhabited. He’s content to spend his days gazing out the window, studying the birds from his comfy perch. Delaware’s life has not been shared with consistent caring humans, so a very predictable home with no children, and adults with a heart for nurturing a fearful friend is what is needed to create a permanent safe space for him. He may not know it yet, but the best years are ahead for him when he finally joins a family worthy of him.
**Double Adoption** Everyone should have a best friend! One-year-olds Edward Cullen (Adoption #PR00061) and Charlie Chaplin (Adoption #PR00062) are the definition of friendship. These adorable buddies from Puerto Rico have been the steady force of comfort for each other as they adjusted to a new life here in New York. Each needed Animal League America’s veterinary team’s help creating a successful plan to treat their tummy troubles (covered through their Pet Health Centers). Learning to trust humans became easier once they felt physically stronger. Now Charlie and Edward want to find a permanent lap into which to plop and show how grateful they are! If you’re ready to ease them into a long-awaited home (any children over age 10, please), they’d love to show you the room in their hearts for you!
Two-year-old Momma Lefkada (Adoption #H211337) is worn out having provided excellent care for her litter of kittens. Now that she’s safely off the streets and that work is behind her, she’s regaining her confidence thanks to the care of expert humans. This deserving young tabby would settle into her first home best with the patience of someone experienced in guiding a fearful friend. Children over age 12 in the home will help establish the atmosphere that she is safe. (Inviting her to play with feather wand toys will build up everyone’s confidence.) If your heart is open to offering her a peaceful place to settle into where she can be doted on, Lefkada is ready to put her past behind her and join you for a shared tranquil future.
**Double Adoption** Local rescues Elsie (Adoption #BF4151) and Evan (Adoption #BF4152) complete each other. Animal League America finds them a purrfect match and you’ll find two is indeed better than one when it comes to this 8-month-old sibling duo. Formerly shy, Elsie is now taking the lead in play groups while her brother Evan is never far behind. A family (with kids eight and older) older will have no trouble winning them over with playtime and treats, and after time to settle into their first real home, the brother and sister combo will be excited to learn all about family life from their favorite expert: you!
**Double Adoption** Nikkie (Adoption #H211599) and Susie (Adoption #H211600) got the opportunity of a lifetime when their rescuer invited them inside her home. Once they were ready to be adopted, Nikkie and Susie got the ultimate opportunity for happiness by being invited into Bianca’s Furry Friends Feline Adoption Center. While Nikkie is still nervous at times given all the changes they’ve experienced, having her more confident sister Susie by her side to guide her in new situations is all she needs to feel comfy. A loving, quiet home (with kids over twelve) will do wonders in assuring these terrific tuxedos that a loving home is where they’re meant to be!
When 9-month-old Ollie (Adoption #PR00159) was rescued from Puerto Rico, he was placed in a home with other pets who didn’t warm up to him. Not to worry! He’s warming up just fine in Bianca’s Furry Friends Feline Adoption Center while he waits for his forever home. Animal League America found this precocious tot has a ton of energy to burn and would thrive in a cat-experienced household with other pets who can keep up with him. Older kids are going to get a kick out of trying to tire him out with wand toys. Bring home the life of the party. Ollie is always up for a good time!
**Special Request** When 7-year-old Snowie’s (Adoption #H207320) owner passed away tragically, Snowie lost her home and family. Fortunately, this stunning calico learning to lean into her friends at North Shore Animal League America who’ve promised her a fresh start. They’re so invested in her wellbeing that they’ve made her part of their esteemed Sponsor Pet program. Thanks to the generosity of donors, Snowie’s medical care will be supported in full through our Pet Health Centers. Snowie is being treated with special diet for a history of cystotomy (bladder stones) —completely covered! They’re looking for the ideal place for this majestic lady to live, one with no other pets, and older children who will give her all the time and patience she needs to adjust back to a loving home. Right now, she can be tentative about new relationships, so someone prepared to let her guide them will reap the benefits of winning her trust. If you’re a calico lover, you understand about being guided by a feline princess!

That’s when Animal League America stepped in! Now feeling more secure in the safety of our care, these 2-year-old brothers are relying on each other for the boost of confidence that’s needed to help them open up their hearts to the new life they deserve: indoors as adored family pets.
