It’s always the purrfect time to open your heart to an animal in need of a furever home, so head down to your local animal shelter or rescue and meet your new best friend today!
**PSA** Please remember that poor air quality affects animals, too, especially those with medical issues, seniors, puppies, kittens, and birds. When possible, keep your pets indoors with the windows closed and the air conditioner running. If you see your pet in distress (coughing, trouble breathing, excessive watery nose or eyes, or disorientation) contact your vet immediately.

Available for adoption at the Town of Hempstead Animal Shelter
**Special Request** Beatrice the *TRIPAW* had an injury that required her to lose her leg, but you’d never know it by watching her! Beatrice is attention-seeking and playful, but a bit hesitant of other pets since becoming a tripod. She is a girl who would do best in a home with no other pets or with someone who has experience in introducing cats. Beatrice is available for foster or adoption. The Town of Hempstead has an excellent foster program that covers all medical expenses and provide food and litter.
Mittens is a sweet, playful and funny boy with a larger-than-life personality! Mittens is quite the love bug you will get the best of both worlds with him because he’s both super sweet and super silly. He loves to be engaged and involved in whatever you’re doing. He’s a fan favorite at the town of Hempstead animal shelter for good reason. Mittens would do best as an only pet or with someone who has experience introducing cats. Mittens is available for foster or adoption and would be a great candidate for someone who wants a pet but is afraid they won’t be able to afford vet care, which will be covered by Town of Hempstead.
If you are interested in learning more about Beatrice or Mittens, please contact the shelters placement team at 516-785-5220 or email adoption@hempsteadny.gov

**Senior Alert and Special Request** Look at this gorgeous boy! Simba is the shelter’s longest resident. He was actually adopted as a kitten but his owner ran into health problems and the shelter took him back. Simba loves to be pet and is very adventurous. He does well when loose with the other cats during free time. Simba has been diagnosed with heart disease and he is doing great on his daily medication. He’s about 8-years-old now.
Vanilla is the coolest dog around! This 2-year-old Dutch Shepard/husky/pit mix is definitely one of a kind. Just look at her gorgeous coat! Vanilla is dog friendly and high energy. She would love a fenced yard with people she can trust (kids over the age of 8) and no cats.
Please call (631) 643-9270 for more information about adopting Simba or Vanilla.

Joey Biscuits is a playful 2-and-a-half-year-old kitty who is full of love and energy. He ended up in the Animal Shelter due to his affinity for escaping. Any potential home should make sure to keep him well-occupied and indoors, as he would not do well in an outdoor environment. He is extremely outgoing and affectionate and will go up to just about any person he meets! Joey Biscuits would do well in a family with children or with other pets. For more information about adopting Joey, call 631-360-7575.
