On Thursday, July 6, Westbury’s free Summer Concert Series returned to the Piazza Ernesto Strada. Over a hundred guests turned out for the opening concert featuring The Hambones, who delivered an electrifying set that had the audience singing along and dancing under the night sky.
The Summer Concert Series is presented annually by the Village of Westbury in conjunction with Westbury Arts and has become a local summertime tradition to look forward to. While The Hambones’ sound incorporated country, classic rock, rhythm and blues, and folk/roots, the Summer Concert Series offers a range of genres: salsa, Latin jazz, island/soul, blues, standards, original jazz, classic rock, bachatu, and funk. The outdoor concerts family-friendly, and children are often found decorating the Piazza with colorful sidewalk chalk drawings.
The weekly Thursday night concerts all begin at 7:00 PM in the Piazza Ernesto Strada, at the corner of Post Ave. and Maple Ave. Ample seating is provided by the Village, but guests are welcome to bring their own chairs if they prefer. Parking is available in the lot behind Rite Aid and on Schenck Avenue across the street. Visit westburyarts.org for more information and the full concert lineup.
