Time has been a valuable tool in learning how to keep one-year-old Bambino (Adoption #PR00088) happy since his arrival from Puerto Rico. At one time quite defiant about fur friends, Bambino began to show mild interest in his peers (which was not reciprocated!). He’s currently seeking out like-minded friends to tussle with! His energy has proven to be too much for the average cat, but if you have a cat with above average energy seeking a partner in crime, a slow introduction can yield miraculous results! Bambino could also be happy as the only pet in his home provided his owner is experienced with energetic cats and willing to be his playmate (while teaching him appropriate ways to play). A home with no children will add to the steady, predictable environment he’s found success in.
**Double Adoption** While in the loving care of Animal League America’s vets, Latte (Adoption #BF4406) and Spice (Adoption #BF4407) learned the hands that cared for their health also comforted them, leading them to realize they were safe —and lucky! Now you’ll find these very bonded one-year-old sisters enjoying playtime side by side, but welcoming understanding human friends who offer them kindness. They’re looking for a cat-experienced home (with children over 12 years old) where they’ll encounter a consistent environment to ease the girls into their next wonderful era. You’ll witness how much they love to explore new toys and spaces.
**Senior Alert** After losing the only home she’d ever known, shy, sweet 14-year-old Shadow (Adoption #H194984) is trusting humans to guide her to a new one. She earned her name as she liked to stay close to her foster family as she’d settled into that situation. Now it’s time for a forever retirement home for Shadow. You’ll find this healthy, super-senior easy to win over with the consistency of a loving home, preferably as the household’s only pet.
Beloved one-year-old Ollie (Adoption #PR00159) is ready to shine in his very first home. Animal League America has spent a lot of time getting to know what makes this dynamic feline from Puerto Rico happy, and it was time well spent. Ollie loves to know he can trust the humans who look after him, and thrives in a predictable setting, either with cats who share his energy or as the only pet in the home. If you’ve been owned by cats before, you’ll see how easy it is to discover the key to his happiness is making him feel understood. Patient kids (over 10 years old) who can offer him the calm and consistency he craves are going to be rewarded with a friendship to last a lifetime!
Shana (Adoption #VR2700) longs for the comforts of a peaceful home, like the one she’d lived in her whole life. While she’s not always sure who she can trust, this delicate 8-year-old lady longs to find that connection she lost, her wide eyes searching for clues that her hero is with her. Your quiet home where she’d be the only pet will help ease Shana’s worries. Children over age eight, please. If you’re looking to care for a seasoned tabby, Shana would relish her fresh start with you.
**Double Adoption** River (Adoption #BF4346) and Nova (Adoption #BF4347) are 3-month-old kitten cuties waiting patiently for their family to come pick them up! They’re a great choice for first-time cat parents. All you have to do is make room for these very bonded siblings, and they’ll take over your home and heart in no time! Remember, when you adopt a pair, you’re saving four lives: the two you take home and the two you’ve made room for!!
The long trip from North Carolina made one-year-old Halle Berry (Adoption #NCR6036) unsure about her new settings, but time in a cage-free room has given her the comfort she needs to feel more secure. Your quiet home (with older children) will provide Halle with the sanctuary she craves and help her settle into the next chapter of her life, one as a beloved pet. Any pets in the home should match her chill energy. Give her the time and space she needs to feel safe, and you’ll soon be counting yourself lucky as a new friendship blossom in your home!
2-year-old Momma Persephone (Adoption #H212260) has endured great hardship and loss, but her North Shore Animal League America family has comforted her in her time in need, showing her humans are worthy of her sharing her heart. She’s seeking a home with cat-experienced adults and children over the age of twelve, prepared to give her all the love she’s been missing. Persephone deserves to live as the goddess she was born to be. All she needs is devoted humans and loving home to feel complete.
Leaving the tranquility of her home made 3-year-old Mini (Adoption #G26611) less than comfortable in her new surroundings. Let’s fix that by finding Mini maximum comfort in a calm household (with calm children over age six) where she can experience the peace and quiet she craves. You’re going to find spoiling her extremely easy because her big, searching eyes and illustrious black coat beckon for more attention in the politest way! If you’re looking for a zen partner, Mini is going to love you to the max!
If you’re ready to open your heart and home to any of these fabulous felines, contact DoritS@animalleague.org or visit their Port Washington campus today!
Available for adoption at the Town of Smithtown Animal Shelter
Stunning Starling is a three-year-old Domestic Shorthair who was adopted from the Animal Shelter as a kitten and was sadly returned due to allergies. Starling is as affectionate and vocal as can be, and always looking to get some attention and snuggles. Her previous owner overindulged her to the point where she has become extremely overweight. Any potential home should try and keep her on a healthy diet, as well as give her the love she needs to have a happy life. Starling would be a perfect addition to any family looking for a sweet companion.
To adopt darling Starling, please call the Smithtown Animal Shelter at 631-360-7575.
Available for adoption through Lend-a-Paw Inc.
Diamond grew up as the shining star of her large family, always cherished and well taken care of. Unfortunately, when her owner became homeless and entered the shelter, so did Diamond. This is where we met her and knew she needed to be in a loving home once again. Diamond is a sweet girl who takes a minute to warm up, but then gladly accepts affection and comfort—she is beloved by all our volunteers and veterinarians! She loves to play, and her personality really comes out with all her fun toys.
Kanes’ foster raves about how he loves to run in the woods and frolic in the ocean. This 2-year-old can swim all day! He is a big mush and loves to give kisses and cuddles. At night you’ll find him cozying right on top of you. He currently lives with 3 other dogs and has a great time with them. In his forever home, he will do best without small dogs or cats since they can get scared easily with his energy.
Meet Clippers! This sweetie pie was taken in after being found in a hoarding situation last year. He was recently surrendered to Lend-a-Paw when his owner could no longer care for him. He has diabetes, but it’s managed by one pill crushed in his food which he takes like a champ. This eight-year-old purr machine would be the most amazing addition to any family.
Lend-a-Paw was contacted about Annabelle by a volunteer who found out she was declawed and thrown in a garage for not getting along with kids. The owner then surrendered her to the rescue where some determined volunteers got her to open up enough to make it to a loving foster home. She now has two foster siblings who she’s started to play with and loves to jump up on the couch as well as curl up in boxes. She needs a patient family forever to assist in petting and being picked up.
