Promotions and New Hires
Dr. Harold Paz
Dr. Paz, executive vice president for Health Sciences at Stony Brook University and the chief executive officer at Stony Brook University Medicine, was appointed to National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine’s Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis: Accelerating Treatments and Improving Quality of Life committee.
He will conduct a study to identify and recommend key actions for the public, private, and nonprofit sectors to undertake to make amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) a livable disease within a decade.
Nancy Waldbaum
Sid Jacobson JCC named Waldbaum its new board president effective July 1.
She has been executive director of the I. Waldbaum Family Foundation since 1991 and has been active in other charitable organizations including Northwell Health, the Manhattan Jewish Experience, Variety Preschoolers Workshop, and the Jewish National Fund.
Erick Hunt
The United Way of Long Island named Hunt to its board. He is director of Brookhaven National Laboratory’s (BNL) Research Partnership & Technology Transfer (RPTT), integrating BNL’s industry engagement, technology licensing and economic development functions to expand the impact of collaborative research and technology commercialization.
Michelle Zettergren
The United Way of Long Island named Zettergren to its board. She is president of MagnaCare. Since joining MagnaCare, she has led transforming business initiatives, such as new strategic health system alliances, market leading technology, customer acquisition and retention increase, and enhanced administrative service offering, among other national market expansion strategies.
Ryan Stanton
The United Way of Long Island named Stanton to its board. He is executive director of the Long Island Federation of Labor, AFL-CIO, (the Federation) and the Labor Education & Community Service Agency (LECSA).
He is a Suffolk County Workforce Development Board Member and is an advisor to the Energeia Partnership for their Land Use, Taxation and Governance Workshops.
Sheila Pugliese
The Uniondale-based law firm of Rivkin Radler LLP, named Pugliese an associate in the Insurance Fraud Practice Group. Pugliese focuses her practice on investigating and litigating no-fault insurance fraud matters.
She represents national insurance companies in fighting fraud in the healthcare and automobile industries in actions to recover insurer claim payments to physicians, medical clinics, attorneys, public adjusters, and others involved in complex, large-scale insurance fraud schemes.
Brian Murphy
Murphy was elected as an officer of the 20-person board of the Suffolk Academy of Law.
He is an experienced personal injury trial attorney with Rappaport, Glass, Levine & Zullo.
With offices in Islandia and Midtown Manhattan, he represents individuals all over the New York metropolitan area who are catastrophically injured due to the negligence of others.
Leigh-Anne Amore
The Melville-based law firm of Cona Elder Law announced Amore joined the firm.
She is admitted to the bar in New York and New Jersey and was named a Rising Star by Super Lawyers in 2022.
