Cyclists gathered with their families at Heckscher State Park and across 23 states for the fourth annual Sloane’s Ride on October 8. Participants rode bikes in honor of Sloane Ndembera who lost her life due to complications associated with congenital heart defects (CHD). Funds raised through the event benefit the Children’s Heart Foundation in support of CHD research.
Trek Bicycle in Lake Grove generously donated a bicycle and helmet for this year’s giveaway and REI in Carle Place provided water bottles for all participants. DJ Beef was on the set with music entertainment at the event village while Shinbone photography and Dayna Badillo photographed the festivities against the backdrop of Long Island’s picturesque Great South Bay.
