Don’t trash your pumpkins, smash them at the Science Museum of Long Islands Great Pumpkin Smash featuring live music by American Indie Pop Band, Daisy the Great!
Join the Science Museum of Long Island for a smashing good time on Sunday, November 5th from 1-4 pm on the Leeds Pond Preserve! Bring your old pumpkins, jack-o-lanterns, and gourds for a great way to dispose of your pumpkins in a fun and environmentally friendly manner! All smashed pumpkin waste will be composted by Grounds for appeal after the event. Explore the different pumpkin smashing stations, learn about how to compost at home at our community compost station, meet some of the SMLI animals, enjoy fall-inspired beer and wine drinks from the Bubbly Bar, or grab some food from Grovers Grub food truck where food and friends come together! All proceeds from the event will be donated to the Chris Holmes Scholarship and Memorial Fund. Last year, the money raised went to sending two children to two weeks of our summer camp and money. It was also used to contribute to the Oyster project geared towards cleaning the pollution from Manhasset Bay. Tickets are $15 per person with membership discounts for ALL member levels.
Be a part of the ecosystem restoration at the Science Museum of Long Island!
Join us beforehand at noon for our Annual Membership meeting featuring a special presentation by Frank Piccinini from Spadefoot Design and Construction on the stewardship and restoration efforts of the 36-acre Leeds Pond Preserve at the Science Museum of Long Island. The presentation will be followed by our Great Pumpkin Smash annual fall festival featuring live music by American Indie Band Daisy the Great! As a special thank you, we’re offering a complimentary free drink token to the Bubbly Bar for all members who attend the membership meeting and purchase tickets to the Great Pumpkin Smash. The token must be redeemed at the Great Pumpkin Smash Fall Festival. Only members who purchase tickets to the event will qualify.
