The Rockville Centre Breast Cancer Coalition Fashion Show held on October 27, 2023 at the Garden City Hotel was a huge success. Attended by over 400 guests, the event drew in almost $70K which will go directly to the RVCBCC and the services they provide the community. The models, all breast cancer SURVIVORS, wore fashions provided by BLOOMINGDALES of Garden City. In addition to a sit-down dinner, the event was complete with shopping, over 50 high end raffle baskets, a 50/50 and diamond earrings donated by Fortunoff.

The energy of the room was filled with love and support for the survivors’ brave enough to model and for all those struggling with a breast cancer diagnosis and for those who have lost their battle.

The honoree for the event was Sue Leach, survivor and care counselor for the RVCBCC since its inception. Sue is among the team of 46 Care Counselors who volunteer their time to counsel, support, and share advice with our newly diagnosed recipients. Sue always makes herself available to take on new cases and meet individually to provide emotional support and to help them access the financial help offered through the RVCBCC.

The RVCBCC hosted its last RVCBCC Fashion Show on March 5th, 2020. Having no idea what was coming in the next weeks and unaware it would be three years before the next Fashion Show could take place, the RVCBCC continued with its mission to provide help to women facing this devasting diagnosis. A lot has happened between then and now, and the impact the RVCBCC has had on the Southern Nassau County communities continues and grows with each year.

  • Helped over 200 women since 2017
    • Granted over $170,000 to our outreach program since inception
    • Established the RVCBCC Cares Program, which supports women in our community who are under insured or uninsured
    • Established the RVCBCC Metastatic Fund, to financially help those who have a long-term cancer diagnosis
    • Established the RVCBCC Bereavement Fund, to help families of recipients that have lost their battle to cancer

In addition, this year the RVCBCC has partnered with Mount Sinai Hospital to fund a grant toward their newly launched cold cap program. The RVCBCC has donated $45,000 over the next three years toward the rental of the cold cap machines and the caps the women use during the procedure.

The RVCBCC is a non-profit outreach program for Southern Nassau residents who are living with a breast cancer diagnosis. Since the coalition was founded over four years ago, the RVCBCC has expanded its outreach outside the village of Rockville Centre to include over 37 towns in Southern Nassau County.
