Adopt, Don’t Shop For Your Holiday Season Pet! Animals For Adoption on Long Island

jackfeatured

With Thanksgiving just passed but more holidays coming up, consider adding an extra seat at your table and a new bestie to your family by adopting a furry friend who will undoubtedly be grateful for a warm and loving home during the holiday season. If you already have a furry friend or two at home, please remember to keep the following foods off their plate: onions, turkey bones, casseroles, garlic, grapes, stuffing, and ham. Stick to foods like carrots, celery, skinless meat, sweet potatoes, green beans, apples and pumpkin.

Donations for Giving Tuesday

November 28th marks the 11th year of Giving Tuesday, a day that encourages people to do good. Please consider supporting local animal shelters, rescues and organizations like the Suffolk and Nassau SPCA’s who are separate from any national organizations and completely volunteer/donation based. Let’s help the animals in our backyards together!

Available for adoption at the Town of Babylon Animal Shelter

*Check out these four super seniors!!!*

Adoption Tobias

It was apparent that seven-year-old Tobias lived a hard life when he was found in a dog park pretty banged up. He’s a big mush ball, weighing approximately 60 pounds. He is beyond sweet, loves food and walks and would do best with children 8 and up.

Adoption Matilda

Ten-year-old Matilda was adopted but returned due to her prey drive with cats. She would love her own space in a quiet house. Perhaps an older couple willing to take her on short walks, followed by a nice nap would suit her best. Could that be you?

Adoption Bindi

Bindi (balls are provided) is about eleven years old and still has the energy of a puppy. She’s been at the shelter for too long – more than two years – so she’s more than ready to find a home of her own. If you can play fetch with her, you might be her perfect match

Adoption Neffy

Low-maintenance Neffy just wants love and a couch to call her own. Approximately nine-years-young, Neffy found herself at the shelter after her owner couldn’t care for her anymore. Short walks and kisses are the way to her heart!

For more information, contact the Town of Babylon Animal Shelter at (631) 643-9270.

Adoption Jack

Jack is a small and stunning two-year-old Pekingese mix.  He is young, active, affectionate and healthy.  Jack does have some quirks that a potential home will have to manage.  When he likes someone, he adores them, but until a love connection is made, he tends to growl, bark and bite at ankles. Jack prefers woman, should not live with children, and has some minor resource guarding that may be an issue with other dogs.  He was found with a small female and they scuffled often but did not cause injury to one another.

If you’re that special someone for Jack, please fill out an application https://www.townofsmithtownanimalshelter.com/applications or call the shelter at 631-360-7575 for more information.

Available for adoption at Lend-a-Paw Inc.

Adoption Strawberry

Strawberry recently came from the euthanasia list at the ACC, and no one seems to know who wouldn’t want this girl, who just happens to be as sweet as her name. Strawberry LOVES receiving all the attention and tons of food and treats. As soon you see her, she is rubbing herself up against the cage, begging for some love. At only one year old she is also polydactyl which means she has more toes to love!

Adoption Cider

Six-month-old Cider and his sister were found as strays over the summer. Cider warmed up very quickly and has made lots of friends with many of the other resident cats. Cider is king of the castle and loves to be perched up, watching what all the cats are doing every day.

Adoption Shiva

Shiva was rescued a few weeks ago along with two other kittens. She is shy at first but once she is comfortable in her new surroundings, she loves to run around and play with her toys. She’s a one-year-old cuddle bug that would do great either alone or with another cat!

Adoption Willow

Willow was rescued from the euthanasia list late last year and couldn’t be more ready for a home of his own. This five-year-old pup loves to run around and play with his foster sibling. He is a great companion and loves to go on walks. He can sometimes play rough but is easily redirected. He knows commands, such as sit and going to his crate, which he once was terrified of. He adores all dogs and shows little to no interest in squirrels and cats.

Adoption Jojo

Meet Jojo the wonder dog!  This one-year-old charmer is a true beacon of positivity and affection. Once a stray, he has transformed into a healthy and loving companion. JoJo adores every person he meets and quickly forms strong connections. Despite his challenging past, Jojo is a great fit with other dogs and is perfectly at ease with cats. Weighing in at a comfortable 44 pounds, he’s a medium-sized bundle of joy. When it comes to walks, JoJo is a dream—he walks calmly on a leash without pulling. His house training is solid, and his barking is minimal. His playful spirit is evidenced by his love for food puzzles and engaging activities. While he’s great with children, his energetic nature suggests he might be better suited to families with slightly older kids.

Adoption Dreamgirl

Introducing Dreamgirl, a true survivor! Rescued from the brink of euthanasia at a city shelter, Dreamgirls’ story is one of hope and transformation. Initially scared when she arrived at her foster home, she has since blossomed into the sweetest and most affectionate companion, winning hearts with her endearing personality. Dreamgirl has mastered the art of cuddling and has an undeniable knack for taking up the entire bed! She shares cozy moments with her fosters and is a big fan of playing tug of war—a game that brings her immense joy. While she’s full of love, Dreamgirl would thrive best in a home where she’s the only pet, allowing her to bask in all the attention. An active family with older kids that provides her with ample exercise would be ideal.

Adoption Panterito

One-year-old Panterito (Adoption #PR00348) loves lounging comfortably in a beautiful, safe, sun-drenched room, waiting for his family to pick him up. He enjoys playtime with friends, especially when it comes to wand toy time and loves crunchy treats. He’s seeking an experienced adopter with older children ready to open their hearts and homes to him. Loving him is as easy as an ear rub!

Adoption Alma

*Double Adoption* Six-month-old, bonded sisters Alma (Adoption #H212380)  and Elena (Adoption #H212381) were rescued locally in search of a brighter future. These sweet sisters enjoy fun playgroups: Alma will take a break from playtime for a lengthy snuggle with a human friend, and Eleni is quite busy collecting treats and compliments from any visitors that stop by. A cat-experienced family with older children would provide them with the peaceful home they’ve been waiting for.

Adoption Magnolia

*Senior Alert* Lovely Magnolia (Adoption #BF4525) is ten-year-old sweetheart determined to share the best years of her life with someone who can appreciate a big heart. She’s a divine choice for anyone wanting to experience the love and devotion of a more seasoned feline friend.

Adoption Pallei

Aloha! Pretty five-month-old Pallei (Adoption #R167669) traveled all the way from Hawaii to find her family! Initially a bit unsure in her new surroundings, Pallei quickly embraced her curiosity and is now a top-notch feather hunter in Bianca’s Furry Friends. Playtime and treats are all you’re going to need to sway her.

Adoption Ekolu

*Special Request* Eight-month-old Ekolu’s (Adoption #R167680) passion for ear rubs is heartwarming but watching him joyfully hopping around with his playmates is what will truly make your heart melt. This purrfectly imperfect three-legged wonder from Hawaii is destined to hop his way into his new life with a lucky furever family.

Adoption Trust

Trust us – Trust (Adoption #LA5208) is your new best friend! You’ll find Trust hard to resist, but why should you? You deserve a purrfect friend, and he deserves his happily-ever-after with you!

Adoption Donato

Donato (Adoption #R167681) wants us to tell you that she’s completely purrfect, that black cats are lucky, and that she has a bonus tuft of white to show you where to give her scritches. This eight-month-old Hawaiian rescue couldn’t be easier to fall in love with, making her a top choice for first time adopters!
