Cantiague Park in Hicksville has been part of the county park system since 1961 and is especially well-known for its indoor ice skating rink which is open all year long. Open to both residents and non-residents, ice skates are available for rent on site (Residents typically get a $5 discount). From open skates to speed skates, the Ice Skating Rink at Cantiague Park also offers ice skating and ice hockey lessons throughout the year. Cantiague Park was the first park on Long Island to offer an artificial skating rink and a swimming pool (which is also available to both residents and nonresidents).
Ice skating is an activity that is fun for all ages, and The Rinx in Hauppauge is a wonderful venue in which to enjoy this pastime. The Rinx is home to two full-size indoor ice skating rinks that are open all-year-round. Guests can bring their own skates or rent skates on location. There are public skating hours, and a rink can also be rented for a private celebration. For people who have never skated, The Rinx offers lessons for beginners, as well as figure skating instruction for future gold medalists; all classes are taught by trained professionals.
