Van Leeuwen Ice Cream, an iconic New York City ice cream shop, is coming to Long Island with a location at Roosevelt Field Mall in Garden City.
The announcement comes as part of the brand’s strategic expansion plan, bringing its unique French-style ice cream to even more communities. Two more locations are opening in the city as well, and one is opening in Jersey City.
Founded in 2008, Van Leeuwen has since evolved into a national brand with over 50 stores.
Van Leeuwen can also be found at grocery stores such as Stop & Shop and Whole Foods.
“We are looking forward to continuing to grow with shops in our home market and to serving more guests in more communities with good ice cream that makes you feel good,” Ben Van Leeuwen, co-founder and CEO, said. “We’re excited to enter Long Island, grow in New Jersey, and expand in our home base of NYC – the place where it all began out of a truck in 2008.”
Known for their innovative seasonal flavors and unique limited-edition collaborations, such as Hidden Valley Ranch, Kraft Macaroni & Cheese, and BIGFACE Coffee Affogato in partnership with NBA All-Star Jimmy Butler, Van Leeuwen’s menu boasts over 30 signature flavors. Some favorites include Honeycomb, Pistachio sourced from Mount Etna in Sicily, Marionberry Cheesecake featuring berries from Oregon farm partner Stahlbush Island Farms, Praline Butter Cake, and Earl Grey Tea.
The Roosevelt Field Mall location is slated to open its doors in summer of 2024, marking a milestone for Van Leeuwen’s expansion into Long Island and reinforcing its commitment to spreading joy through the art of good ice cream.
