Sousa Elementary School marked a significant moment in its history recently as fifth-grade students participated in a time capsule ceremony to commemorate the unveiling of the new Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM) classroom, handicap accessible ramp and elevator at the school. Funding for the expansion comes from the Capital Project Bond that was approved by the community in 2015.
The event, held on Jan. 24, 2024, saw fifth-grade leaders placing artifacts in the time capsule, symbolizing their connection to the state-of-the-art STEAM facilities and the history of the school. The time capsule serves as a snapshot of the school’s commitment to fostering innovation and excellence in education.
“The time capsule ceremony, led by our enthusiastic fifth-grade leaders, signifies the beginning of a new chapter in educational excellence. The Sousa community is dedicated to preparing our students for a future where critical thinking and creativity are paramount. This new STEAM classroom is a symbol of our collective vision for fostering lifelong learners and leaders,” said Meg Sheehan, Principal at Sousa Elementary School.
